🔧 Horsebox Bulkhead Work in Progress 🐴

Another horsebox currently undergoing work in the Tony Bolwell & Son workshop.

This job involves work to the bulkhead area directly behind the cab, creating a strong and properly supported separation between the cab and horse compartment.

The photos show the process before everything is covered and finished, including:

* Aluminium sections being measured, fitted and secured to form the supporting framework.
* Heavy-duty phenolic-faced boarding being fitted across the bulkhead.
* Careful finishing around the existing cab structure, bodywork and internal panels.
* Aluminium edging and trims being fitted to protect and reinforce the exposed edges.
* All sections being securely fixed before the horse area is completed and finished.

It’s the sort of work that largely disappears once a horsebox is finished, but what’s behind the panels is just as important as what you can see.

🔧 A serious cab restoration underway! 🔧

This one certainly needed some attention! After stripping the cab back, we uncovered extensive corrosion and rot throughout the floor, step and underside of the cab.

Rather than covering over the problem, the damaged metal has been cut right back to solid material, with new sections fabricated and welded into place to restore the strength and integrity of the cab.

These photos show just how much work can be hiding underneath flooring, trims and sealant — and why doing the job properly matters.

A big transformation already, with plenty more progress to come. 👀🐴🔧

This Renault 3.5T horsebox was made to order, built specifically around our customer’s requirements from start to finish.
