🚗❄️ WINTER DRIVING – IT’S MORE THAN JUST SWITCHING YOUR HEADLIGHTS ON!
As the nights draw in and the weather changes, it’s an important reminder for parents and learner drivers that driving lessons during the winter bring a whole new set of challenges.
🌙 Darker evenings – Learning to judge distances, spot hazards and drive safely with reduced visibility.
💡 Headlights – Knowing when and how to use them correctly.
🌧️ Wet roads – Understanding stopping distances, reduced grip and changing road conditions.
🚘 Windscreen wipers & demisting – Keeping a clear view of the road ahead.
⚠️ Hazard awareness – Adapting speed, observations and decisions to suit the conditions.
A winter driving lesson isn’t simply a normal lesson with the headlights switched on!
It’s an opportunity to develop valuable skills, build confidence and gain experience that will last a lifetime.
👨👩👧 PARENTS: If you’re helping your son or daughter practise between lessons, remember that driving in darkness and poor weather can be very different from driving on a bright, dry afternoon.
