Back up on the tip where to truck job started for me. Arocs decided it wasn’t keen on its relay arm. No previous sign of play and all associated fixings were in the bearing cap. Bad design on Mercedes behalf, no ‘proper’ way of stopping the nut from working loose. K**b of weld sorted it.

Attended at 08:45

A bit dog eat dog this one, I wasn’t the only man rang but I was the first to attend 🤣

Double dip on this one too… developed a DPF fault later in the day so went back out to it.

I’ve been familiar with this truck for some 5 years now and I’m very well aware it’s never had the DPF out. Rather than avoid the inevitable I called shots to take it straight out and send it for cleaning. No point burning diesel doing regenerations.

Fabrication side sorted by themselves.

Wiring came after.

Some initial confusion on this job because the truck is positive earth, so the whole machine is the complete opposite from anything sold in the last 40 years, also the first time I’ve touched anything of this vintage.

✅ Original wiring terminated

✅ 110a cable run into battery box

✅ New cable run up to instrument cluster

✅ Charging lamp retrofitted to original charging illumination in the dash

Whilst the charging light does stay illuminated on tick over, largely down to the incredibly low tickover of the Gardner 5LW, it makes a strong 26v at a fast idle.

✅ Ned King air horns re-piped with 10mm

This diff fought me to the last fu***ng bolt. Nothing went to plan, and it’s always a tag with tip gear for a diff 🫣

This truck is the only Scania worth buying. 6 cylinder is twice the engine of a V8.
