Planning a campervan or motorhome conversion? ✨ The DVLA has updated its guidance on changing your vehicle’s body type to a "motor caravan"!
Here’s what you need to know:

You don’t have to change the body type: Even if your V5C still says "van," you can still use it as a motor caravan as long as it has the required internal features and meets safety standards!

External Requirements: To officially update your body type to a motor caravan, the DVLA looks for specific exterior features like high-top/pop-top roofs, a separate living accommodation door, and at least 2 windows on one side of the main body.

Evidence is Key: You’ll need a completed checklist, clear interior/exterior photos (with dates and reg numbers on the back!), and proof of a safe, professional setup.
Safety always comes first so make sure your weights, payloads, and seatbelts are secure before hitting the open road!

Check out the full gov.uk guidance for all the checklist details - Converting a vehicle into a motor caravan (motor home) - GOV.UK
