Before you set off, one more thing worth a quick check: how's the air con been running lately?

A full car on a hot day means more bodies, more heat, more work for the system. If it's been a bit slow to cool down recently, that's usually more noticeable with a full boot and a back seat full of kids.

Sort it before the trip, not during it. ❄️

Electric cars still rely on air con systems, they just pull the energy differently.

Running it in an EV draws straight from the battery, so it has a bigger impact on range than it would with fuel.

That's part of why ECO modes often limit climate control automatically. Doesn't mean skip it, just worth knowing why it behaves differently.

One thing that doesn't change: EV systems still need proper servicing like any other. Sealed doesn't mean maintenance free, whatever's under the bonnet. ❄️

Run the air con for a few minutes before you set off, rather than relying on it to catch up once you're already warm.

If it's taking longer than usual to cool down, that's often the first sign it needs a look, better to catch it before a long stretch of road than in the middle of one.

Not because something's gone wrong, but because the system quietly wears down long before you'd ever notice from the driver's seat.
