Had this Trevor Chimera in today for an oil and filter and levels check. Also a handbrake issue, now there's a surprise. Try as we might it was difficult to improve on it. On observation it's like a ratio issue between handbrake and caliper. As the handbrake ratchet jumps over the pawl, its like its too deep and as it locks back into the tooth it has released the caliper lever too far, however there's no way you can pull it an extra notch. The answer really would be a finer handbrake lever ratchet. It ends up being a balancing act of cable adjustment. It's better, but not award winning that's for sure 😒
Looks like it will be back for exhaust manifold gaskets. One was slightly chuffing on test and worse by the end. I think I gave it a bit of a fright πŸ€”
A mint car with only 37000 miles (exactly after road test)

RS Turbo Time.

Another resonably quiet CVH in for a sort out. Messed about with by too many people as usual. Apparently one garage worked on it for two weeks πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
Two to four hours is all thats required. Two to undo all the f**k ups and two to set it up completely. A bit of a cracker this one. More later.

Slowly getting this Lotus back to how it should be. Steering was very heavy when turning right. No power steering so we decided the rack was to blame. Not too straight forward though as the only reasonable way to do it is to send it to be overhauled. Well worth the wait though as it has transformed the car. A change of thermostat and coolant was also requested. We carried out the antifreeze and coolant with a vacuum refill. The only way realistically to get it from front to back.
Given how hot these things get in the engine compartment it was felt that a turbo blanket would be a worthwhile addition..

This car is in incredible nick for it's age and mileage. Back with the customer now πŸ‘ŒHopefully he will feel a big difference 🀞

Finished off this week with a service and a couple of other bits and pieces on this superb Mk1 Focus RS.
A well tidy car externally and underneath. Pulls like a train too. Forgot to photograph this before the owner arrived to collect it so just grabbed a few quick ones.

Another one about to head home. Awesome car in phenominal condition. (Find another one ) Timing belt, water pump and front cam and crankshaft seals done. Radiator back in and along with fresh antifreeze. Rear gearbox seal done too. The last owner thought a load of grease stuffed in around the seal might help but it didnt.
Running a 330bhp Cosworth engine attached to the T5 gearbox. Complete conversion carried out by ourselves about 9 years ago, and you know what, it still drives as good as it did then. Not you're usual rattle box. Even a long drive in it wouldn't be unsettling.
A very lucky chappy to have got a hold of this one πŸ‘Œ

One of the absolute peaches we have in this week. Converted by ourselves probably about 9 years ago. Its been tucked away for a while, so the lucky new owner thought it prudent to have the timing belt done and some seals replaced along with the water pump. More of this cracker later.

Couldn't resist a photo of this mileage. Bit of a stretch for the other half but she did good πŸ‘Œ

Check out this absolutely mint Mercedes 190e 2.6
In for a good service and checkover. The owner complained of a very hot floor in the boot, as it turned out caused by 2 holes in the top of the rear silencer which we replaced. The centre silencer requires replacement too but we cannot source one currently. When the under tray was off for oil changing, it was noticed that the o/s of the engine was fairly oily. This was the result of a pretty hardened rubber rocker gasket which was taken care of with a new one. The car looks like new having only covered 89k miles. The rear seats appear never to have been sat it.
Back with the customer now until a centre silencer is found.
A beauty πŸ‘Œ

Not a lot to post about this week as we've been at a Good Friends daughters wedding, but here's something that should excite some of you. The wrong model, but the right engine as it was the same one used in the DTM race series against the Mercedes Evo 2. I've known this pocket rocket for a lot of years and it was nice to see it being used to deliver the bride to the ceremony.
Congratulations to Katy and Aaron. A wonderful day. Part 2 tonight πŸ‘Œ

Another one sorted. This M5 V10 brute was dropped off for a misfire problem. Probably a few too many counts which results in the management system shutting down the injector to protect the catalytic converter, resulting in a constant misfire along with limp home mode. Diagnostic pointed to cylinder 3. Most likely a top of plug coil, but to confirm that it was only the coil, it was swapped with number 2, diagnostics cleared and road tested. Sure enough the code showed cylinder 2 . New coil pack obtained from BMW, fitted, codes cleared and tested. All good and a big relief for the owner I'm sure. πŸ˜“πŸ˜°
An absolute monster with a deafening straight through exhaust. The neighbour must just love this car 🀣🀣🀣
