🔧 Audi Q3 – Engine Management Light Diagnosed & Repaired 🔧

This Audi Q3 came into us with the engine management light illuminated.

After carrying out a full diagnostic check and testing the system, we traced the fault to Cylinder 1 glow plug. 🔍

Now, this glow plug was VERY tight! 😬

Glow plugs can be a bit of a nightmare when they refuse to come out. If one snaps during removal, it can quickly turn into a much bigger job — potentially even requiring cylinder head removal. 😩

Thankfully, after getting the engine really warm and taking our time, we successfully removed the old glow plug and fitted a new one without any drama. 🙌

✅ Fault diagnosed & tested
✅ Cylinder 1 glow plug replaced
✅ No broken glow plug!
✅ Engine management fault rectified
✅ Final checks carried out

Another job completed without turning a relatively simple repair into a cylinder-head-off nightmare! 😅🔧

🔧 VW Caddy – Rattle on Start-Up Diagnosed & Repaired 🔧

This VW Caddy came into us with a noticeable rattle on start-up. After carrying out our checks, the fault was confirmed as a worn camshaft.

We stripped down the full top end of the engine to inspect the components properly.

🔍 Inspection found:
• Camshaft heavily worn
• Intake & exhaust valve buckets in poor condition
• Further checks carried out on all other components before rebuilding

🛠️ Preparation for rebuild:
The cylinder head was thoroughly cleaned down and all relevant components were checked before fitting the new parts.

✅ New parts fitted:
• New camshaft
• New camshaft seal
• All new valve buckets
• New injector rocker arm stretch bolts
• New camshaft cap stretch bolts
• New rocker cover gasket

Everything was rebuilt correctly, followed by a final inspection and check-over before firing the Caddy back up.

🔥 Started up perfectly with the rattle gone! 👌🏼

Another job completed and another vehicle back on the road! 🚐🔧

🚗 Ford Focus – Limp Mode Diagnosis & Repair 🔧

This Ford Focus came into us suffering from limp mode.

🔍 Diagnostics checks were carried out, which identified faults within the Engine Control Module relating to turbo underboost.

A full smoke test of the intake system was then carried out, leading us to a failed intake-to-turbo seal.

Further inspection also found:
❌ Cracked vacuum line to the turbo actuator
❌ Turbo actuator seized in the closed position

We got it sorted:

✅ New turbo seal supplied & fitted

✅ Vacuum line repaired

✅ Turbo actuator released and checked

✅ Full road test carried out 👌🏼

Another fault diagnosed correctly and another vehicle back to running as it should! 🚗💨

This Transit Custom came into us with a power steering pump failure. On inspection, the pulley had come off the pump, which had then caused the auxiliary belt to strip.

✅ New power steering pump supplied & fitted

✅ New auxiliary belt supplied & fitted

✅ Fresh power steering fluid added

✅ System bled and checked

✅ Full test drive carried out

This Peugeot 308 came into us with an issue selecting 1st and 2nd gear.

After carrying out a full diagnosis, the fault was traced to a failed clutch. The gearbox was removed and the clutch assembly inspected, confirming the diagnosis.

✅ New 3-piece clutch kit supplied & fitted
✅ Gearbox refitted
✅ Full road test carried out
✅ Vehicle returned to a happy customer! 🙌

🚐 VW Transporter in for a rattling noise & fuel leak!

This Transporter came into Tranby Croft Autos with a rattling noise and a noticeable fuel leak. 🔧

After carrying out a full investigation, we found the following faults:

🔴 Fuel filter had a rust hole, causing the fuel leak
🔴 OSF coil spring had snapped
🔴 Worn track rod end
🔴 Worn anti-roll bar link

We got it all sorted:

✅ New fuel filter supplied & fitted, then fuel system bled through

✅ New OSR coil spring supplied & fitted

✅ New track rod end supplied & fitted

✅ New anti-roll bar link supplied & fitted

The vehicle was then checked over and road tested to make sure everything was operating as it should. 👌

Another VW Transporter back on the road and ready to go! 💪
