🚨 “BUT HOW WOULD TVR KNOW IF I GOT A FINE?”

Good question! 👀

When you hire a vehicle, TVR Self Drive is the registered keeper.

So if a traffic contravention occurs during your hire, the notice will normally arrive with TVR first.

This can include:
🚗 Parking PCNs
📸 Speeding offences
🚦 Red-light cameras
🟨 Yellow box junctions
🚌 Bus lane/moving traffic contraventions
💷 Congestion charges
🌉 Dart Charge
🚦 Oxford Traffic Filter contraventions
…and other traffic enforcement notices.

So what does TVR do?

Our team checks the date and time against your hire agreement and provides the relevant authority with the hire agreement and hirer’s details where liability can be transferred.
The authority then deals directly with the liable hirer.

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
TVR charges a £30 administration fee for processing a traffic contravention received during a hire.

This is in addition to the penalty/charge from the relevant authority, which the liable hirer is responsible for paying.

So when you collect your hire vehicle…
📍 Know your route
🚦 Check local restrictions
📱 Keep an eye out for signs
🗺️ Check traffic filter routes before travelling

REMEMBER: Your personal permit does not transfer to one of our hire cars.

A few minutes of preparation could save you two unwanted bills!

If you’ve been avoiding Oxford because of the Botley Road closure, it’s time to put Oxford back on the list! 😍
Heading into town for shopping, work, appointments, a day out or a night on the tiles?
The route is open again.
Just remember that Oxford’s new Traffic Filters are also something to be aware of when planning your journey.
🚗 Hiring from TVR?
Check your route before you set off and make sure you know where the restrictions apply.

🚦 OXFORD TRAFFIC FILTERS – IMPORTANT IF YOU’RE HIRING A CAR! 🚗
If you’re heading into Oxford, there are some important changes you need to know about.
Oxford’s new Traffic Filters are coming into operation, with restrictions at six locations around the city.
⚠️ Hiring a CAR from TVR?
Your personal Traffic Filter permit does NOT automatically transfer to a TVR hire vehicle.
So please don’t assume you’re covered just because your own car has a permit!
The filters are monitored by cameras and entering one when you’re not permitted can result in a penalty.
💷 Penalty Charge Notice:
£70 – reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days.
📍 Before you travel, check the official Traffic Filter map and plan your route.
👉 Find the map and full details here:
https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/transport-and-travel/oxford-traffic-filters/map-traffic-filters
A couple of minutes checking your route could save you an unwanted fine!
