Being offered for sale doesn't automatically mean a part-worn tyre is legally compliant.

That's one of the important messages reinforced by TyreSafe's enforcement activity with Trading Standards, police teams and local authorities.

In Lancashire, none of 30 part-worn tyres inspected were correctly marked as “PART-WORN”.

The law requires part-worn tyres to clearly display a permanent “PART-WORN” marking, alongside meeting other strict legal requirements before they can be sold.

For motorists, the message is simple: know what you're buying, buy from a reputable retailer and don't be afraid to check that a part-worn tyre meets the legal requirements before it goes anywhere near your vehicle.
