🚗 Pure water as engine coolant? It works – or does it?

An approved coolant mixture provides:
❄️ Frost protection
🛡️ Corrosion protection (also against calcification)
🌡️ Higher boiling point
🧼 Fewer deposits
⚙️ Protection and lubrication (water pump + seals)

✅ What you should keep in mind
Mix coolant concentrate as specified (with distilled/demineralized water). Use only coolant approved by the vehicle manufacturer.

⚠️ Important:
- Never mix coolant types without checking compatibility.
- Emergency top-up with water is OK short-term—then fix the cause and restore the correct mix.
- Never open the expansion tank cap when the engine is hot!

Only the correct coolant mixture provides lasting protection.

Heads Up! It´s again. 🤗

In many BMWs with manual transmissions, different release levers and release bearings are used — and this is exactly what often causes uncertainty during repairs.
We’re here to clear things up. 🔧

The older release levers are available in different installation heights:
✅ Low version: identified by spherical indentations
✅ High version: without these indentations
In addition, the old levers can be recognized by their curved contact surfaces. The matching release bearing has flat contact surfaces.

The new release lever is available in only one version and has flat contact surfaces.
The corresponding release bearing has two pairs of curved contact surfaces of different heights and thus two mounting positions. This ensures the correct installation height is achieved depending on the mounting position.

Important: Please ensure you observe these differences when installing a new clutch.
Otherwise, the clutch may not function properly. ⚠️

A small card that can prevent a big mistake.

Some wheel bearings are equipped with a multipole encoder hidden under the seal. If the bearing is installed the wrong way round, the ABS sensor will not receive the correct signal — and the result can be fault codes, rework and unnecessary comebacks.

The Detector Card helps make the magnetic encoder side visible before installation, so you can check the correct fitting direction with confidence.

REPXPERT tip: always identify the encoder side first — it must face the sensor.
