We love hearing from TECC members about their experiences with our cars and car club. It’s great to know what drives (literally) members to join and why they’ve found access to a car club vehicle works better for them than owning their own vehicle.

Here’s one such story -
“With most people, including myself, working from home since March 2020, the need for a car was not really necessary. Even now that restrictions have lifted and life is returning to normal (almost) people are still working from home. It seemed pointless to pay for road tax and insurance for a car that was sitting at the front door doing nothing most of the time. It made more sense to simply join the local car club and hire a vehicle when necessary.

I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to hire a car. Not only are you helping to protect the environment, as there are no emissions with electric vehicles, but bookings are made very easy using the app and can be made in seconds. Rates and membership fees are extremely reasonable, especially when you consider the ongoing costs of owning a vehicle.” - David

Today, we are reopening our electric car club memberships in Hawick. It was funded by Fund to provide low-carbon transport and drive the local green economy.

Dear TECC members and applicants

During these uncertain times of coronavirus, we are looking to support members as best as we can.

You may want to avoid travelling on public transport at the moment so as to maintain social distance from others but if you need to travel somewhere—to support a relative or friend, for example—a club car can be a good alternative.

We disinfect the cars between hires and the cars are in the Morrisons car park while Mart Street is being remodelled. If you need to travel far and might need to recharge the car along the way, please get in touch with me as we are still operating on a single ChargePlace Scotland card while we await a replacement of the faulty card.

We trust that you are all managing to stay safe and keep ’social distance’ so as to reduce the likelihood of spreading the disease.

During the work on the Mart Street car park and bus shelters, our cars will be the other side of our sign, in the Morrisons car park. By the time the SBC work is completed, our charge points will be fully installed and operational too!

JOB OPPORTUNITY
The Post of Car Club Manager for the Teviot Electric Car Club has become available.
Duties include maintenance of the cars, management of the bookings, and customer service duties. Promotion of TECC on line via all social media channels, planning and staging all promotional events, and the growth of TECC membership. Reporting to the Board on a bi-weekly basis.
This is a part time role (approx 17 hours a week- 4 month guaranteed contract with potential to extend subject to success) based art Mart Street with an office in the Public Library. 
If you think you have good organisational skills, are great with IT and planning events, are able to build rapport with clients, customers and potential members quickly and offer exceptional customer service. Keep accurate records of all activities, have a clean driving licence. Can work independently and un-prompted. Then this could be the role for you.
