One for your theory test…
Not everywhere has trams, so you might never come across them during your driving lessons.
Trams can come from either direction and they can’t steer around you.
Always check both ways, follow the signs and signals.
Be careful on the tracks they can be slippery. Watch for cyclists and allow extra room so they don’t get their wheels stuck.

HELP US SECURE A ROADSTER! FUTURE

Image of the rear cover of the last issue of Roadster Magazine for kids

After 12 issues and four years… Roadster! Mk 1 is DONE!

But is there a Mk 2?

A question we’ve been grappling with:

“Would anyone miss Roadster! if it was gone?”

To an extent, the answer is probably no.

In the course of making Roadster!, we’ve encountered organisations doing amazing work — and much more successfully than we do.

We’ve seen:

* road-safety organisations developing youth-focused programmes;
* STEM organisations inspiring future engineers;
* automotive companies developing future talent pipelines;
* driving organisations building safer future drivers;
* curriculum-pressured schools developing individually tailored enrichment and engagement opportunities;
* museums developing collection-specific education programmes.

All of these individual endeavours are worthwhile.

But they are siloed interventions, designed around individual organisational objectives and operating in a fragmented landscape where worthy initiatives compete for attention.

Roadster! is different because it has the potential to bring all of this outreach together.

A road-safety organisation could bring road-safety expertise.
A STEM organisation could bring STEM expertise.
A manufacturer could bring people, facilities and industry access.
A museum could bring heritage.
A driving organisation could bring driver education.
Schools could bring children and educators.

Roadster! could join the dots — a youth-centred connective platform through which those contributions become a regular, coherent, engaging and tangible experience for a broader audience.

Everyone is trying to inspire the next generation.

Roadster! could become a mechanism for bringing some of that effort together.

We think it has the potential.

But if Roadster! is worth doing, it needs far more than we can give.

We’re a lad and Dad, after all. We shouldn’t be trying to deliver a scalable educational intervention — and we’re not willing to burn ourselves out trying.

“It’s lovely. Keep going!” isn’t helpful.
Goodwill is not infrastructure.
Enthusiasm is not capacity.

We cannot deliver this alone.

Roadster! has always had a non-profit ethos, and ultimately this is a question of the greater good.

It needs an enabling consortium — a group of organisations willing to join us and collectively provide the things none of us can provide alone:

* expertise;
* access;
* funding;
* editorial capacity;
* distribution;
* facilities;
* people;
* audiences;
* opportunities;
* credibility.

This goes beyond individuals trying to help.

It needs a meaningful injection of collective capacity if it is ever to achieve meaningful scale.

So, if you are an organisation that believes Roadster! could have a future — and you have something you can actually bring to that future — we’d like to hear from you.

Let’s make something special happen as a collective.

Because we’ve run out of road on our own.

Would you be in the correct lane?
Straightforward? No clue? Hope for the best?
Would you want this on your driving test?

Hands up……what’s wrong here? Guess we all have a bad day at work sometimes 😅

Here’s a very simplified version…… Just to make it clear this is an explanation for learners, not a mechanic’s guide

There’s lots of discussion about Graduated Driving Licensing, but how can we better support learners right now? 🚗

Learning to drive is about more than the time spent in the car.
Online modules help connect theory with practical driving through videos, quizzes and progress tracking. Learners can revisit what they’ve covered in lessons and explore important topics such as fatigue, impairment, distractions and decision making.
Jess and Lily’s feedback shows how this extra support can build confidence, make private practice clearer and help information really stick.
All for less than the cost of one driving lesson.

Proud to be working in partnership with Driving Schools Online to support learning beyond the car 🧡
