The Gardner Douglas 427 Mk4.

Some shapes need no introduction.
But what lies beneath them can change everything.

The GD427 Mk4 takes one of motoring's most iconic forms and gives it the engineering to deliver an entirely different driving experience.

Purpose-designed underpinnings, carefully considered ergonomics and contemporary performance come together in a car built around the driver — responsive, composed and genuinely rewarding to drive.

Because for us, preserving the character of an icon has never meant preserving its limitations.

Timeless in appearance. Unmistakably Gardner Douglas to drive.

Deposit Taken

Another beautifully specified Gardner Douglas has found its next owner.
This striking GD427 Mk4 Euro, finished in deep Mingblau metallic with contrasting grey stripes, has now been secured with a deposit.

Built around our renowned GD Euro chassis, this is a superb example of what makes the Mk4 such a complete sports car—timeless Cobra-inspired styling, exhilarating V8 performance and the refinement to make longer journeys every bit as rewarding as a spirited Sunday drive.

— Key Highlights —
• GD Euro chassis featuring our fully triangulated backbone design, paired with a lightweight GRP semi-monocoque body for exceptional rigidity, balance and agility

• GM LS3 6.2-litre V8 with an uprated performance camshaft, producing approximately 500 bhp with effortless torque, crisp throttle response and a suitably purposeful soundtrack

• Tremec Magnum 6-speed manual gearbox delivering precise, positive shifts while offering relaxed cruising on longer journeys

• GD fully adjustable double wishbone suspension with aircraft-grade alloy uprights, coil-over dampers and an uprated anti-roll bar for composed, confidence-inspiring handling

• Mingblau metallic bodywork with contrasting grey stripes—a distinctive combination that beautifully complements the Mk4's muscular proportions

• 18" wheels and performance tyres combining excellent grip with a purposeful stance

• Driver-focused cockpit with heated GD bucket seats, full harnesses and twin roll-over bars, combining traditional sports car character with modern comfort

• Complete weather equipment with a fitted pivoting and stowable soft top and matching hood cover, complemented by generous luggage capacity for weekends away and longer European tours

With just 3,695 miles covered, this 2017 Mk4 Euro brings together performance, refinement and genuine usability in one beautifully resolved package.

Powerful yet composed, classic yet contemporary—it's a Gardner Douglas designed to be enjoyed properly, whether that's an early Sunday morning drive or a long-distance continental adventure.

Beautifully specified Gardner Douglas cars never stay available for long.

Same car. A very different look.

Chris and Liz secured this GD427 Mk4 through our Approved Resales collection following our May Open Day, but before it left us, they wanted to make it their own.

The car remained at GDHQ while our workshop fitted an entirely new all black interior trim with matching red stitching and carried out a number of carefully considered changes to reflect their own style and specification.

Now complete, the before and after shows just how much those details can change the character of a car.

It's something that sits at the heart of the Gardner Douglas philosophy. No two GDs are ever quite the same, because every owner brings their own vision.
And that doesn't only apply when commissioning a new car.

Our Approved Resales programme offers the opportunity to take an existing Gardner Douglas and make it your own, with the knowledge and experience of the factory behind you.

But rather than us tell you, we'll leave it to Chris:
"From the minute Liz and I arrived at the Open Day in May we were pleasantly surprised by the family feel of GD. Everyone from Meena (Finance), Andy (Expert in all GD) and Ayisha (Sales and Marketing), along with all the current owners in attendance.
We felt comfortable asking any questions and not pressured to sound like an expert or a fool.

We picked a car from their current GD Resales collection and asked if we would be able to change some things to our specification. Again this was no trouble and everything was changed with zero fuss and in fact enhanced with their knowledge.

Since picking up the car, I haven't stopped smiling, in fact my wife (who I thought might not be that interested) is also in love with it! The build quality is exceptional along with the soundtrack, comfort, handling, look and of course the awesome power.

If you hear or see a Red GD with white stripes you will also notice the driver laughing and grinning from the absolute joy and fun he's having!"

Thank you to Chris and Liz for the kind words, and congratulations once again on your GD.

The engineering remains unmistakably Gardner Douglas.
The finishing touches are unmistakably theirs.

What do you get with the GD package?

It’s a question with a much bigger answer than a simple list of components.

The specialist and replica car market is incredibly varied, and one of the important distinctions with the GD427 is that the car has been developed as a complete package.

From the outset, our approach has been to purpose-design the elements that define how the car drives, performs, protects its occupants and feels from behind the wheel.

It starts with the foundations.

With the GD ADV, the backbone chassis, suspension architecture and associated underpinnings have been designed specifically for the GD427, using new, purpose-designed components rather than adapting systems originally engineered for another vehicle.

And those foundations are tried and tested.

The GD427 is built upon the same backbone chassis architecture developed and proven through years of competition, becoming multi-championship-winning in the process.

Suspension geometry, chassis balance, braking and steering characteristics have all been developed around the car as a whole. A stiff, coherent structure and stable geometry create predictable behaviour under load, while progressive responses, neutral balance and consistent braking give the driver confidence and control.

Safety is designed in, not added on.

The GD427's substantial semi-monocoque composite body incorporates double-skinned panels, 20mm sandwich-construction floors and integrated wheel arches, bulkheads and boot floor, creating a strong and coherent structure around its occupants.

At the front, the nose structure works with the forward-leaning radiator and chassis support frame to provide a progressive crumple zone before loads reach the chassis hard points.

At the rear, the upright fuel tank is positioned within the body structure and between the rear wheels, offering protection from side and rear impacts while contributing to the car's weight distribution.

Anti-intrusion door beams provide additional side protection, while the structural three-point roll-over bars are securely braced and mounted directly to the chassis, also providing the mounting points for the seatbelts.

Even the relationship between body and chassis has been engineered differently.
The composite body is isolated from the chassis across 14 mounting points, maintaining an air gap between the two structures. This allows the body and chassis to work independently rather than being permanently bonded together, while avoiding the moisture-trapping interfaces that can contribute to chassis corrosion over time.

The same thinking continues inside the car.

Our own GD bucket seats are designed specifically for the GD427 and trimmed to our specification, with the rake, support and positioning developed for both driving ergonomics and long-distance comfort.

The low seating position places you within the car rather than perched above it, creating a more natural connection between driver and chassis. The roll-over bars align with the seating position and provide the seatbelt mounting points, while the brake pedal is positioned directly in line with the driver's hip and leg, allowing braking force to be applied naturally without unnecessary rotation of the body.

Tilt-adjustable steering and an adjustable pedal box allow the driving position to be tailored further, helping the GD427 comfortably accommodate a broad range of driver heights and builds without compromising the fundamental ergonomics of the car.

It's considered as a driving environment, not simply an interior.

And perhaps that's the most important distinction.

A GD package isn't simply a collection of components required to build a car.
It's a complete, developed system built around purpose-designed, tried-and-tested underpinnings — backed by the same multi-championship-winning backbone chassis architecture proven through years of competition.

From the structure beneath you to the safety around you and the driving environment you're sitting within, every element has been considered as part of the same car.

That's what you get with a Gardner Douglas.

Another Prom Arrival in Style

We were approached by a local father who asked if we could help make his son Matthew’s school prom that little bit more memorable — and, of course, we were more than happy to oblige.

The big night took place back in July at Belton Woods, and what better way for Matthew to arrive than in our gorgeous GD427 Mk4?

Matthew certainly looked the part, and paired with the unmistakable presence and sound of the GD427, it made for a pretty special arrival.

With a fantastic setting, a sharp outfit and a car guaranteed to turn heads, everything came together perfectly — and it was great to see Matthew enjoying such an important occasion.

Photos captured by the talented photographer Zuzana Rahn Click Click Images — a brilliant way to remember the occasion and some great shots of Matthew with the GD427.

It was a real pleasure to play a small part in the evening. We hope you had a fantastic prom, Matthew — an occasion to remember and an arrival to match!
