Mustoe breaks top 20 in Teuschenthal quali

Ben Mustoe has just finished 18th aboard his ASA GASGAS in today’s MX2 qualification race. In hot conditions on the fiddly faff of a track - I really don’t like seeing deep ruts on straights unless we’re in the lowlands.

It’s a good effort from Ben on his MX2 debut, finishing less than 20 seconds behind last year’s EMX250 runner up, Noel Zanocz in the process. This means Ben will go to the line 18th tomorrow where a top 20 finish will guarantee at least one world championship point.

South African Camden McLellan brought the Monster Energy Triumph home first ahead of Janis Resilus on the factory Yamaha after Sacha Coenen had Holeshot and lead the opening three laps before crashing. He would eventually finish fifth.

Solid Free Practice for Ben

Ben Mustoe just finished a very respectable 17th in Free Practice in the MX2 Grand Prix session in Teutschenthal , Germany

Ben improved throughout the session which saw Sacha Coenen set a blistering pace out front. This is the venue where Sacha had one of his infamous crashes, whilst leading, going off track and ending up at the foot of a tv gantry ! Hopefully, no such dramas for anyone this weekend.

Next up for Ben will be timed qualification followed by the qualification race in late afternoon which will determine the order in which the riders take to the lane tomorrow, but so far so good for the ASA GASGAS man.

Mustoe moving on up as Ben all set to MX2 Grand Prix debut this weekend

After a magnificent May so far Ben Mustoe hopes to round off a successful month in the Grand Prix arena this weekend as the young man from Cheltenham makes his MX2 Grand Prix debut in Germany. After a podium in the British Championship at Lyng at the beginning of the month, Ben put on a masterclass showing to claim victory and top step on the podium at Landrake a fortnight later.

Two weeks further on and the ASA GASGAS man makes his debut at Teutschenthal, in Eastern Germany. Teutschenthal has been a Grand Prix venue for over thirty years and in the beginning was a very fast, hardpacked surface. Modifications to the track, including moving the start, have slowed the track down a little.

Ben will be hoping to match or better the showing of British Championship rivals Billy Askew and Gyan Doensen who both managed to secure good points in both races last weekend as Billy and Gyan return to EMX250 action this weekend. Both riders acquitted themselves well in MX2 last weekend and will no doubt be looking to be challenging for podium places upon their return.
The weather forecast for the weekend in that part of Germany is for humid conditions with the possible chance of the odd thunderstorm. How very British!! I know Ben would like to pass on his appreciation to Lee Tolan and the sponsors of the ASA GASGAS team for this opportunity and for the continued support of his family in his pursuit of Motocross glory.

All the very best Ben !

Waters does indeed bring home the bacon from EMX65 qualifier

Jack Waters on his JL COX Motorsports KTM kept up his impressive form of 2026 with overall victory in the EMX65 qualification round held in Denmark yesterday. The Ledbury youngster traded 2nd and 3rd places with fellow Brit Tommy Wood, but, with Jack having the stronger second race this meant that Jack secured overall victory.

Bauer bags victory as Stock and Gyles get in the points

Ricardo Bauer just produced a dominant display to win race two, and with it overall victory in the EMX125 Round in France. Bauer quickly passed his team mate, Moritz Ernecker and then pulled away from the field, making it look very easy in the hot conditions. Slaney Goyer was second, much to the delight of the home fans who really got behind the French youngster as he had a great battle trying to pass Bertram Thourius for the first half of the race. Both riders had made light work of passing Ernecker, who would eventually finish a comfortable fourth to clinch second overall and maintain a healthy 33 points lead in the championship over Ricardo Bauer. Goyer clinched third overall. Levi Townley once more impressed in sixth. Drew Stock finished a creditable 16th on the JK Yamaha and Bryan Gyles added two more points to his championship tally with 19th on his KTM. The EMX125 series resumes in a fortnight’s time at Kegums in Latvia.

With temperatures expected to hit 26 degrees here in the Forest of Dean , Great Britain 🇬🇧 (that’s hanky on the head and factor 88 for moi) I thought I’d see how hot it is expected to be today at the Grand Prix. Already above 20 degrees and expected to reach a high of 31 👀👀😱😱😱😱🇫🇷🇫🇷❤️. Lucy Barker is first on track of the British racers after her excellent seventh place in Race 1 yesterday. WMX Race 2 starts at 0820 UK time

Ernecker wins again as Bauer pulls through to make it a KTM 1-2

EMX125 Race 1

Moritz Ernecker has just put on a masterclass performance for a young rider to completely dominate Race 1 at the French GP. The young Austrian had a tremendous start from the centre of the gate and was three bike lengths clear heading down from the first corner. From there he never looked back as young Dane, Bertram Thorius held second ahead of a fast charging Andrea Uccilini on the TM. Uccillini found his way by Thorius but couldn’t make any inroads into the lead Ernecker had built up. Thorius was to fall late on after being passed by the hard charging Ricardo Bauer and Slaney Goyer. Goyer, the home favourite in this class had started outside the top six and made good progress but couldn’t shake the attention of Bauer. With Bauer passing Goyer he then reeled in Ucciliini and passed him with two laps to go. Levi Townley had an excellent ride to finish seventh in his first EMX outing of 2026.

Of the British talent on show Bryan Gyles was battling well at half distance, inside the points in seventeenth before encountering some problems late on. It wasn’t picked up on the cameras, but Bryan’s lap times were both well over two minutes, indicating he either fell or had a mechanical issue. Sadly, Drew Stock only completed six laps. Hopefully, it’s nothing too serious and will we see both Bryan and Drew back out there tomorrow morning for their second EMX125 race.
