🍂🚗 Tyre Safety Month: Act Before You REact! 🛞

Autumn is well underway, bringing wet roads, fallen leaves and darker evenings. It’s a good time to check your tyres and make sure they’re ready for changing driving conditions.

This October, Tyre Safety Month is all about taking action before a tyre problem puts you at risk. Here are three simple checks to add to your routine:

🅰️ AIR PRESSURE – Check your tyre pressures regularly to help maintain safe handling and braking.

🅲 CONDITION – Look out for cuts, cracks, bulges or unusual wear that could indicate a problem.

🆃 TREAD – Make sure your tyres have sufficient tread to help maintain grip on wet roads.

🍁 And remember: Wet leaves can be surprisingly slippery, while reduced visibility makes it even more important to slow down and leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle ahead. A few minutes checking your tyres could make a real difference to your safety.

🚗 MOT Update for Drivers!

There’s a new update to MOT rules regarding approved LED replacement headlight bulbs in compatible halogen headlamps.

From 14 October 2026, approved LED replacement (LEDr) bulbs fitted in halogen headlamps will be allowed in class 3, 4, 5 and 7 MOT tests.

INFLATION PUMPS UP: Fuel ignites new spike to 3.1%

Turbocharged by rising fuel costs from the ongoing war between the USA, Israel and Iran, UK inflation leapt to a five-month high this morning, reaching 3.1% for the August measure and marking a significant step up from 2.9% in July.

⚠️Shocking figures reveal more injury crashes happened on 20mph roads in Scotland last year than on 40mph, 50mph, or even 70mph roads. This surprising data is fuelling a major debate over blanket 20mph speed limits.

New data shows 570 injury collisions on 20mph roads, compared to just 254 on 40mph roads and 268 on 70mph dual carriageways. While the Scottish Government insists lower speeds improve safety, critics argue these figures raise serious questions about their widespread rollout plans.
