With England set for a hot weekend, high temperatures can put extra pressure on your tyres, increasing the risk of damage or blowouts.

🚗 Big changes to driving test bookings are here, and if you’re learning to drive, this one matters.
From 12 May, only the learner driver can book, change or move their own driving test. That means instructors can’t manage it for you anymore, as the DVSA tries to cut delays and stop bots and resellers grabbing slots.

Why the shake-up? The DVSA says waiting times have stretched to six months in some areas, so these new rules are meant to make the system fairer and protect genuine learners.

Here’s the key bit:
👤 Only the learner can manage the booking
⏳ The aim is to reduce long waits and slot hoarding
⚠️ If you leave it too late, you could miss out on the test date you want

In real life, that could mean a learner who’s relied on their instructor to sort everything now needs to stay on top of their own booking and any changes.

Soft warning: if your test is coming up, double-check you know the new rules before you try to amend anything.

Parking on the pavement could soon land you a £130 fine 💸
New rules set to roll out across England by 2026 will give local councils the power to fine drivers for blocking footpaths, something that’s currently rarely enforced.

The aim? Safer, clearer pavements for everyone 👶🦽🐕‍🦺

But it’s not as simple as a blanket ban… drivers on narrow streets may still get exemptions, depending on local council decisions.

With 83% of drivers already backing stricter rules (as long as they’re fair), this could be a big shift in how and where we park.
