Curious about what happens during a driving test? Here's what to expect on test day.

An eyesight check 👀
You'll read a number plate from 20 metres away or 20.5 metres if it's an old-style plate.

'Show me, tell me' vehicle safety questions 💭
You'll answer 2 questions about vehicle safety. The 'tell me' question comes before you start driving and the 'show me' question while you're on the move.

General driving ability ✅
You'll drive on a variety of roads, but not on motorways, including 20 to 35 minutes of independent driving, following either a sat nav, traffic signs, or both.

Reversing your vehicle 🚗
You'll be asked to do one of the following: parallel park, park in a bay, or pull up on the right and reverse 2 car lengths. Your examiner will let you know which one.

Knowing what's coming can make test day feel a lot less daunting.

✨ What amazing gifts from my student who passed her driving test FIRST TIME today in her own car! 🚗🎉

No photo or name this time, but this achievement absolutely deserves celebrating.

This has been a goal she’s wanted to achieve for a long time, and after putting in so much hard work and determination, today she made it happen.

Passing your test is about so much more than just getting a licence. It’s the freedom to drive yourself to work, pop out whenever you want, visit family and friends without relying on anyone else, and enjoy the independence that comes with it.

I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved and the effort you’ve put in to get here. Wishing you many years of safe, happy driving and exciting adventures ahead.

Well done! You should be incredibly proud of yourself and all the hard work you’ve put in, you know who you are 🤩🌟🚗💙

Beautiful flowers and gifts that I’m very thankful for for, as well as getting the chance to teach you something I know you’ve wanted for so long!

Great result 😍😍

🎉🎊 Test Day Pass!! 🎊🎉

What a day to pass your driving test Lana, your driving journey has been long and hard, having stopped and started many times since you were 17, but this time you stuck with it and really put the work in - and what a pay-off!

A really solid drive today, comments from your examiner really tied it up when he mentioned just how confident he felt being in the car with you driving - you can't ask for more than that!

I'll be missing the mad bants in the car on a Thursday afternoon, asking me questions, then answering them yourself🤦🏼‍♂️, checking your hands EVERYTIME you were asked to turn left👈 or right👉 and of course my favourite... what lane do I need here? Quickly followed up with "that one" 🤣

I really know just how much this one means for you and your family, and there's no doubt I'll see you out on the road again soon!

Stay safe out there 💪🏻👊🏻
