🔥 MK6 Golf GTI Edition 35 – Hunting Idle & Unsafe Tune Fixed 🔥

This Golf GTI Edition 35 (running the factory KO4 setup) came to us after the customer had been to several garages who couldn’t solve their hunting idle issue. Even after a throttle body replacement, the problem persisted.

Within minutes of arrival, we datalogged the car with VCDS and found the short-term fuel trims were up 25%, pointing to an air leak after the MAF. A quick inspection revealed the oil cap was broken, letting unmetered air in. Luckily, we had a spare to test – fitted it, and the car idled perfectly 👌.

But we didn’t stop there. During road testing and further VCDS datalogging, we noticed the car was pulling up to 9.5° of timing mid-pull – a serious risk for engine damage. After a smoke test showed no leaks, we inspected the spark plugs and found them badly worn, so we replaced them. Still, the issue persisted.

To rule out the tune, we reverted the ECU back to stock. Straight away the timing was back under control. The issue? A shady remap that could have cost this customer their engine.

We then carried out our own Stage 1 custom calibration in-house using WinOLS. After thorough datalogging, the car was boosting well, smooth to drive, and timing was spot on ✅.

⚠️ This is a perfect example of why you should always choose a trusted tuner. A poor-quality map can do serious damage. All our files are developed and calibrated in-house, tailored to your specific vehicle, with safety as the top priority.

🚐 Vauxhall Vivaro 1.6 R9M – Full Package 🔧

This Vivaro came in for a big job, and we made sure it left running at its absolute best:

✅ Timing chain replacement – These engines are well known for timing chains letting go with no warning. If you’re unsure when yours was last done, don’t risk it – get in touch.

🛠️ Mitsubishi L200 – EGR Solution 🛠️

This L200 came to us after the customer had already blanked the EGR themselves but was left with that dreaded engine management light on the dash.

This one wasn’t straightforward – the ECU couldn’t be read through the OBD port, meaning it had to be benched. Mitsubishi certainly didn’t make it easy, hiding the ECU in an awkward position and locking it inside a security cage 🔐.

Once we tackled that challenge, it was plain sailing – we applied our EGR solution, then ran full datalogging to confirm the vehicle was running perfectly. ✅

🚘 2016 BMW X5 – Swirl Flap Solution & Mechanical Repair 🔧

This 2016 BMW X5 arrived with:
⚠️ Restricted performance
⚠️ Error codes on the dashboard
⚠️ An annoying squeak over bumps

After carrying out thorough diagnostics with our Autel, we confirmed the swirl flaps weren’t damaged but sticking. We applied our swirl flap solution, followed by a custom tune using Autotuner and WinOLS. To make sure everything was spot on, we datalogged the vehicle post-tune – confirming no issues remained ✅.

The customer also mentioned a squeak when driving over bumps. After inspection, we quickly found a snapped exhaust hanger. A quick weld repair had it fixed and silent again 👌.

🚐✨ Ford Transit 2.2 Stage 1 + EGR Solution ✨🚐

This week we had a 2010 Ford Transit 2.2 in. The owner wanted more pulling power and improved driveability, so we carried out:

✅ EGR Solution – preventing future clogging issues and improving reliability.
✅ Stage 1 Performance Tune – safely taking it from 85bhp ➝ 150bhp for a massive gain in power and torque.
✅ Smoke Test – intake system fully checked, no leaks found.

During diagnostics, we also identified a faulty Fuel Quantity Control Valve causing high fuel pressure. This will be replaced to ensure the van is 100% spot on before handover.

💪 The result? A much stronger, more responsive Transit that will make light work of daily duties once complete.
