We are one of the North of England's few independent Land Rover and Range Rover specialists, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, near the Ikea. We are close to the M62 / M621 motorway networks and easily accessible from North Leeds, Pudsey, Huddersfield, Bradford and Wakefield. We promise to always advise you on what your vehicle needs to stay safe and legal on the road, and to separately advise you on anything that will help your vehicle perform at its best. We will not sell; we will only advise and recommend based on our experience, so you can make an informed decision that suits your individual needs.

Myth busting is back with another one we hear regularly.

"If a garage charges more, the work must be better."

After a successful work trial, we're delighted to say Rebecca has joined us to start her three year apprenticeship.

She'll be at college one day a week, and the rest of the time she'll be in the workshop alongside our senior technicians learning all things Jaguar Land Rover. Her aim is to qualify and go on to specialise in electric vehicles, which, given where the industry is heading, is a very smart place to be.

Bringing new talent into the trade matters to us, and it's been great to see someone this keen from day one.

Why Your Tyres Deserve a Proper Look 🛞

They're the only part of your Jaguar or Land Rover actually touching the road, yet they're one of the easiest things to take for granted.

The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre, but grip in wet conditions starts dropping off well before that. It's worth checking tread across the whole width, not just the middle, as uneven wear can point to alignment, suspension or pressure issues rather than just age.

Pressures matter too. Underinflated tyres wear faster, affect handling and can hurt your fuel economy or range. Heavier models and larger alloys are less forgiving of getting it wrong.

Also worth a look: cracking in the sidewalls, bulges, embedded stones or nails, and the condition of your spare or repair kit if you carry one.

🚨 Warning Light of the Month 🚨

The oil pressure warning light usually shows as a red oil can symbol, sometimes with a drip. Unlike the engine management light, this one isn't a "get it looked at soon" warning. It means your engine may not be getting the oil pressure it needs, and that can cause serious damage very quickly.

Common causes include: low oil level, a failing oil pump, a blocked filter or pickup, worn engine bearings, or a faulty oil pressure sensor or switch.

What to do:
1. Pull over safely as soon as you can and switch the engine off. Don't carry on to see if it goes away.
2. Once cool, check the oil level. If it's low, topping up to the correct grade may help, but it doesn't explain why it dropped.
3. If the light stays on after a top up, or the level was already fine, don't restart and drive it. Call us.

Even a short drive with low oil pressure can turn a repair into an engine rebuild. If in doubt, give us a ring.

From the Workshop 🔧

This week we've been on an old school Land Rover Discovery Td5, back when you could get to things without removing half the car first!

The job here is a leaking rear air spring. No clever kit needed for this one, just a spray of soapy water and a look for bubbles. If it's leaking, it'll tell you.

It's a good reminder that diagnostics isn't always about plugging in. Sometimes it's knowing exactly where to look and what to look for, and that comes from years of working on these vehicles.

New series alert! We're taking some of the questions we hear most often and setting the record straight, starting with a big one...

Myth: "Only the main dealer can do software updates and diagnostics on my Jaguar or Land Rover."

Not true, at least not at Green Oval.

As independent Jaguar Land Rover specialists, we invest in the same level of diagnostic equipment and software access to properly interrogate your vehicle's systems, from fault codes to software updates. Same depth of diagnostic work you'd expect from a main dealer, at a more approachable price, with a team who'll actually explain what they've found.

Small Job Now, or Big Bill Later? 💸

It's tempting to put off booking your car in for something that seems minor. A small noise, a slightly slow tyre, a warning light you've decided to ignore. But little issues rarely stay little.

Take air suspension as an example, something a lot of Range Rovers and Land Rovers rely on for that famous smooth ride. A small air leak in the system might only mean the car sits slightly lower than usual at first. Left alone, the compressor has to work harder and harder to keep up, and what could have been a simple, inexpensive fix can turn into a full compressor or air spring replacement.

The same goes for things like brake pads, coolant leaks and battery health. Catching them early is nearly always quicker, cheaper and less stressful than waiting for them to turn into a breakdown.

If something doesn't feel quite right with your Jaguar or Land Rover, get it checked out. It could save you a lot more than money.

🚨 Warning Light of the Month 🚨

The engine management light usually shows as an orange or amber engine symbol. It can mean anything from something minor to something urgent, and won't tell you which on its own, just that the engine's computer has spotted something off.

Common causes include: Loose or faulty fuel cap, worn ignition coil or spark plug, faulty oxygen or mass airflow sensor, emissions issues and throttle body or turbo fault

What to do:
1. Flashing light, loss of power or strange noises? Pull over safely and stop the engine.
2. Steady light, no other symptoms? Safe to continue, but get it checked soon.
3. Don't ignore it, book it in and we'll plug in to find the real cause before it becomes a bigger!

Why a Battery Health Check Matters 🔋

Whether you drive a petrol, diesel, hybrid or fully electric Jaguar or Land Rover, your battery works harder than most people realise.

On conventional models, the 12V battery powers everything from start-up to your electrics. On hybrid and electric models like the I-Pace, a 12V battery also works alongside the high-voltage pack, and if it fails, the car won't even complete the checks needed to charge or drive.

A battery health check tests the real condition of your battery, not just a guess from how the car feels. Quick job, and it could save you being caught out with a car that won't start.
