Cut the excuses - CHECK your TYRES! 🛞
More than 50% of motorists have NEVER checked their tyre pressure, or CAN’T REMEMBER the last time they did, according to research by TyreSafe .
That's a pretty scary stat when you consider that your tyres are the only point of contact with the road. Under-inflated tyres directly affect your braking distances, handling, and even your fuel efficiency.

Not sure what the numbers and letters on your tyres mean? We're here to help explain 👇
• 235 (Width): How wide the tread is, measured in millimeters.
• 50 (Aspect Ratio): The profile thickness. The height of the sidewall is 50% of the tyre's width.
• R 19 (Rim Size): Designed to fit a 19-inch wheel rim.
• V (Speed Rating): In this case, the tyre is safely rated for speeds up to 149 mph.
• XL (Extra Load): Reinforced to carry heavier weights than standard tyres, typically used on an SUV.

Two numbers that are less obvious:

Manufacturing Date
Look for the code inside the small oval window (0526). The '05' represents the 5th week of the year, and '26' represents the year 2026. This means this tyre was manufactured in the first week of February 2026.

MAX Inflation Pressure
Found along the bottom edge, this indicates the maximum pressure the tyre can handle safely (350 kPa / 51 PSI).

As it is TyreSafe Month, we hope this quick guide helps you feel more confident about understanding your tyres. Remember to always check your vehicle's recommended tyre pressure before inflating - usually found on the door sill, inside the fuel flap, or in the owner's manual.
