🇫🇷Renault Mégane RS275 - Airbag & TPMS Coding🇫🇷

In the workshop this week we had this stunning Renault Mégane RS275 track car.

The customer had recently purchased the vehicle which had been upgraded with aftermarket bucket seats and harnesses. As a result of the original seats and airbags being removed, the airbag warning light was permanently on.

The car was also fitted with aftermarket alloy wheels which do not have TPMS sensors installed, causing a further warning on the dash.

We were able to assist using our dealer-level diagnostic software:

Work carried out:
• Airbag system re-coded to accommodate bucket seats / harness setup
• TPMS monitoring system coded out to suit aftermarket wheels
• Full diagnostic scan and warning lights cleared
Result: A clean dash with no warning lights, ready to be enjoyed properly on track.

🇩🇪 BMW M3 - Purple Silk 🇩🇪

Suspension Upgrade

This stunning Purple Silk M3 returned to us for some further development work.

After a busy schedule of track days and trips to the Nürburgring, we had a detailed discussion with the owner about the next steps for chassis performance.

The decision was made to move to a dedicated coilover setup.

We were fortunate to source a quality used set of AST 5100 coilovers. They required the correct top mounts, so we contacted our friends at Regal Motorsport who had a new set flown in from the Netherlands within days.

We fitted the AST 5100 kit along with a set of AST shorter drop links to ensure correct geometry at the lower ride height.

While the car was in the workshop, we also noted the front brake pads were at the end of their life. A quick call to Jack at Clubsport Garage and a set of Endless ME22 pads were with us on next-day delivery.

We set up the damper settings for road and track use, and the owner then had a full wheel alignment completed. We had set the initial camber with our camber gauge, and we were pleased to see we weren't far out at all on the alignment rig.

The car is now ready for its next outing at Anglesey, where the customer should feel a significant improvement in composure and grip.

This Clio came to us, after the customer started to build his Clio 197 track car.

He had removed the airbags , carpet’s and made it just for track.

It was due its mot and the airbag warning light was illuminated.

Using Renault Clip, we coded out all the components that had been removed.

A nice clear dashboard and no warning lights

Back in the workshop with us this week is this great example of a Megane 275.

After a few hard track days, the braking system was in need of a refresh.

We carried out:

Brakes:
Front - New Brembo HC discs paired with Winmax W6.0 pads
Rear - New Brembo discs paired with Winmax W5.0 pads
A proven track-focused setup offering excellent bite, fade resistance and pedal feel.

Service:
Full engine service using Millers fully synthetic oil and genuine Renault filter.
The car also received our full vehicle health check and is now fully prepared and ready for its next track day.

Back in the workshop yesterday

A common fault of bmw F series

The drivers door wouldn’t open from the outside, once the door panel was removed and stripped.

We found a broken Bowden cable

A quick call to bmw and they had one to us in a few hours.

Rebuilt the lock and handle with the new cable
And all back together

We now have a fully functional handle

🟡🟡Renault Clio RS200 - Liquid Yellow🟡🟡

This stunning Liquid Yellow RS200 came into the workshop for a number of jobs.

The customer had supplied a full set of new seat belts in yellow to match the exterior. We fully stripped the interior and professionally fitted the new belt set. A fantastic finishing touch that really suits the car.

Additional work carried out:

1. Driver's Door Alignment

The driver's door was found to be out of alignment. We have now adjusted and realigned the door so it closes smoothly and correctly.

2. N/S Electric Window Inoperative

After full investigation and testing, this has been traced to a faulty window motor. We will order a replacement, and once the part arrives we can complete the fitment.

3. Air Conditioning Inoperative

Following a recent re-gas by the customer, we inspected all hoses and fittings. The fault has been traced to the air conditioning condenser. The unit appears to be original, with the fins having disintegrated and swollen over time, causing loss of efficiency. Once a new condenser is ordered, we can fit it and have the system re-gassed.

• Supplied and fitted good used gear k**b

This is a very well maintained and clean example, and it's great to see a car kept to such a high standard.

Real World Test: How Far Can You Go After The Brake Pad Warning Light?

Our own BMW 320d has now covered over 200,000 miles.

Recently the brake pad wear warning light came on.

We already knew the discs were corroded on the outer edges, and as this is our own daily driver, we decided to run a controlled real-world test.

The question:
How many miles can you actually get once that light comes on in normal daily use?
We monitored them closely, and the answer surprised even us.

We covered 14,000 miles from the light first coming on, to the pads just touching metal.

We already had the new discs and pads in stock ready to go, so the car was never at risk of being off the road.
It just goes to show how much life can still be left when the pad warning light first appears on a daily road car.

Of course, we would never recommend running any customer's car this low - once your light comes on, get it checked - but it was an interesting insight from our own test vehicle.

Now stripped, cleaned, and fitted with fresh discs and pads ready for the next 200k.

Track Prep Complete - BMW M3 - Nurburgring Tested

We recently had this stunning BMW M3 in the workshop for various works to get it fully track prepped.

The owner has just returned from a trip to the Nürburgring where he completed an impressive 22 laps.

As anyone who knows the Nordschleife will tell you, it's an incredibly demanding circuit that takes real time and discipline to learn.

We're pleased to report the car ran absolutely fantastic and faultless throughout the entire trip, and he achieved a personal best time of 7:58.

For a car still running on lowering springs, that is a seriously impressive time.

Next step when the car returns - we have a fresh set of AST coilovers ready to be fitted and we'll be dialling in some more front camber to unlock even more potential.

In the workshop today we had this 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

Following a track day at Cadwell Park, the owner booked the car in for a comprehensive post-track health check.

The TCR needs little introduction - a superb performance Golf straight from the factory, and this example benefits from a few tasteful, subtle modifications.

What really sets this car apart is that it's a Japanese import. The condition of the underside is exceptional, completely corrosion-free and just as it left the factory.

Another happy customer, and another TCR ready to be enjoyed both on road and track.

Back in for a couple of detail jobs

Lovely to have this Storm Grey 200 back in the workshop.

Jobs carried out:

1. Steering Wheel Extender - Supply & Fit
We removed the steering wheel and boss and extended the horn panel wiring to suit.
Supplied and fitted a 30mm steering wheel extender, then refitted the boss and wheel.

A small change that makes a big difference - brings the wheel that little bit closer to the driver for a much improved driving position. The owner will run it at an upcoming track day first, then we'll look at lowering the steering column to perfect the position.

2. Boot Carpet - Supply & Fit
We also supply custom boot carpets made to your colour specification. Available in full black, or with a choice of coloured piping to match your interior / exterior.

For this one we went with a colour-matched finish which really tidies up and finishes off the rear.
