β€οΈIn Loving Memory of Ken Clarke
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Clarke, who passed away peacefully on the evening of 14th June 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was a devoted husband to Jean, a much-loved Dad, Grandad and Great-Grandad, whose family was always at the centre of his life.
A highly respected businessman and well-known figure throughout the tyre industry, Kenβs career began with Goodyear Tyre GB and Avon Tyres. In the late 1960s, with the support and dedication of his wife Jean, he opened The Motorist Shop in Horbury. During the early 1970s, the business relocated to Ossett, bringing with it a loyal customer base, where Ken established a small garage offering tyre services under the name Ossett Tyre House.
In 1974, Ken Clarke Ltd was formally incorporated and Ossett Tyre House opened on the site where it proudly remains today, at the heart of Ossett. Through hard work, integrity and exceptional service, Ken built a business that became a trusted name across the region and a lasting legacy for future generations.
Beyond business, Ken was a keen golfer and a valued supporter of Hanging Heaton Golf Club, where he enjoyed many happy years and friendships.
Ken will be remembered for his kindness, determination, business savvy and unwavering commitment to his family, customers and community. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness, support and condolences during this difficult time.
