From Shipyard to Sea - Seamlessly

Our 800-tonne travel hoist moves serious weight with ease - lifting large yachts from our construction halls straight into our 7,500m² wet basin.

From there, it’s just a short step from the construction hall to sea trials. Whether it’s the sheltered waters of Falmouth Harbour or the open stretch of the English Channel and Bay of Biscay, vessels can be underway quickly and efficiently.

Over 10 Years & Countless Launches

Since 2015, our non-tidal wet basin has been at the heart of the shipyard, transforming how we handle large yachts. Its unique design gives us the flexibility to efficiently haul out and launch vessels, while also providing seamless in-water support before and after projects.

A decade on, the basin is a key part of how we deliver smoother, faster, and more connected yacht services.

Engineering Excellence: The Transformation of M/Y A2

Masquerade of Sole arrived in 2011 and was transformed into M/Y A2, featuring a 5m stern extension that took her to 47m across all three decks. Delivered entirely by Pendennis’ in-house teams alongside BMT Nigel Gee (Lateral Naval Architects). The project included major superstructure modifications and a full re-engineering of onboard systems.

Her exterior modifications were complimented by a full paint job – she left the yard almost unrecognisable, enhanced in both performance and capability - showcasing the depth of Pendennis’ technical skill in complex stern extension projects.

Since her relaunch, A2 has continued to be supported by Pendennis across our Falmouth and Vilanova facilities, most recently returning to Falmouth in 2021 for her 10-year survey and further upgrades, before re-launching again in January 2022 in outstanding condition, ready for her next chapter.

A2 recently visited our Mediterranean base Pendennis Vilanova for another successful winter refit.

A Decade On: Remembering 2016

A decade on from 2016, we’re reflecting on a standout chapter in Pendennis’ history.

It was a year that saw the yard in full stride, delivering exceptional work across both refit and new build projects, including Aquila and Constance. Each showcased the craftsmanship, technical excellence, and close collaboration with owners and designers that continue to define Pendennis today.

A key milestone was the 12-month refit of 86m Aquila - our largest project featuring a full transformation across all five decks and over 750m² of interior and exterior space. The project went on to win Best Refit at both the World Superyacht Awards and the International Superyacht Society Awards.

Alongside this, 46m Constance underwent an extensive 18-month refit, modernising systems, ensuring offshore compliance, and refreshing her interiors for new owners.

Honouring Heritage: The Restoration of Mariette of 1915

Mariette of 1915, the stunning 42m classic twin-masted schooner built by Herreshoff, has been a long-standing visitor to Pendennis, returning for multiple refits over the years. Her most extensive transformation came in 2017–18, delivered in close partnership with her crew.

The programme included a full deck and sub-deck rebuild, structural reinforcement, hull refinishing, and key interior and systems upgrades, enhancing performance and onboard comfort while preserving her timeless character.

Redelivered in 2018, she later joined Pendennis for the Classic Yacht Cruise from Cannes to St Tropez, celebrating the yard’s 30th anniversary. Today, Mariette of 1915 is a regular visitor to our Mediterranean base Pendennis Vilanova.

Pendennis Apprentices Celebrate Gold Award Success at Buckingham Palace

Last week, a group of current and former Pendennis apprentices attended the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award celebration in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

Fourteen apprentices took part - one of the largest Pendennis groups to attend the Gold Awards - proudly representing the company while celebrating their achievements alongside other award recipients from across the UK.
The DofE Gold Award is the highest level of the programme and takes a minimum of 12 months to complete. Participants are challenged across five sections: voluntary service, skills, physical recreation, an adventurous journey, and a residential project - all designed to build confidence, resilience, and valuable life skills.

The afternoon featured military bands, inspiring guest speakers, and afternoon tea in the Palace gardens. In his address, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, highlighted the continued importance of the DofE programme for young people today, something clearly reflected in the growth and confidence of the apprentices attending.

Pendennis is proud to celebrate M/Y Seawolf’s BOAT International World Superyacht “Judges’ Special Award” for her extraordinary transformation, blending heritage preservation with cutting-edge innovation. “There’s a very interesting history to this boat” noted a judge.

The 58.8m explorer received top recognition following an ambitious rebuild in Falmouth. One of Pendennis’ more technically demanding projects, the scope combined complex structural and engineering developments with a completely new interior by Design Unlimited.

The result is a yacht that seamlessly integrates forward-thinking, sustainable solutions while preserving her distinctive character and presence.

This award is a testament to the expertise and dedication of our in-house team and project partners - a milestone achievement for everyone involved.

World Superyacht Award-Winning Refit: M/Y Solace 🏆

What a wonderful night at the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards celebrating another win for Pendennis refits with this year’s Refit Award presented to M/Y Solace.

Fresh from an extensive 10-month transformation at our Falmouth facility, Solace impressed judges with a refit that carefully balanced innovation while preserving her original character. The project introduced a completely reimagined interior by Vickers Studio Ltd alongside significant structural enhancements, including a new bridge deck cabin and 1.5-metre stern extension.

The project showcases the depth of Pendennis’ craftsmanship - from detailed interior joinery to complex structural works - combined with extensive engineering upgrades, a full exterior repaint and the integration of advanced FarSounder sonar for confident cruising in remote regions. The team also upgraded her beach club, which now features a striking glass-fronted sauna.

This recognition highlights the strength of craftsmanship, technical expertise and teamwork behind the project, and marks a proud achievement for everyone involved.
