Falmouth School of Sailing is a family-run RYA training centre, established in 1981.

We offer sailing courses, yacht charters, and professional maritime training from our base in the beautiful harbour town of Falmouth, Cornwall. We are a friendly, professional and approachable sailing and powerboat training school located in one of the largest and most beautiful natural working Harbours in the world.

RYA Competent Crew & Coastal Skipper Practical | 9–14 August ⛵️

Whether you're completely new to sailing or looking to build on existing experience, this practical liveaboard course offers an immersive week on the water.

Competent Crew provides a hands-on introduction to sailing and life onboard, while Coastal Skipper focuses on advanced seamanship, navigation, pilotage and boat handling for more experienced sailors.

Learn by doing, gain confidence and enjoy exploring Cornwall's stunning coastline along the way.

RYA First Aid | 17 July

When you're out on the water, first aid knowledge can be the critical link before professional help arrives.

This one-day RYA First Aid course covers essential first aid skills alongside boating-specific topics including cold shock, hypothermia, drowning, CPR and medical assistance by VHF.

RYA/MCA VHF Radio Course |9 July 📡

Learn how to confidently operate fixed and handheld VHF radios, understand DSC functionality and correctly carry out safety, urgency and distress communications.
Successful candidates will receive the RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC), which is required to legally operate a Class D VHF radio on most leisure craft.

Falmouth Classics | 12–14 June⛵️

This weekend, Falmouth's waters will be filled with classic and traditional vessels as Falmouth Classics returns for three days of racing, parades and maritime celebrations.

From the Parade of Classic Boats to the incredible mix of heritage vessels on the water, it's always one of the most visually impressive weekends in Falmouth's sailing calendar.

RYA/MCA VHF Radio | 28 June📻

A VHF radio is one of the most important pieces of safety equipment onboard, but knowing how to use it properly matters just as much as having one.

Our RYA/MCA VHF Radio course covers essential radio operation, including distress calls, emergency communication, routine procedures and correct onboard radio etiquette.
