The Role: Automotive Service Technician
As an Automotive Service Technician at Winthorpe LTD, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance. Your expertise will be crucial in diagnosing issues, performing effective repairs, and conducting thorough MOT inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics using diagnostic equipment and interpret fault codes accurately.
• Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including cars, light commercial vehicles, and motorhomes.
• Execute mechanical and electrical repairs, ranging from minor adjustments to major component replacements.
• Carry out Class 4 & 7 MOT inspections in accordance with DVSA standards, ensuring all vehicles meet legal requirements. (Preferable but not essential)
• Advise customers on necessary repairs and maintenance, providing clear explanations and accurate cost estimates.
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques through continuous learning.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician/Mechanic in a garage environment.
• Relevant automotive qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent).
• Valid MOT Tester certification for Class 4 & 7 vehicles (preferable but not essential)
• Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with modern diagnostic tools.
• Excellent knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electronics.
• A full, clean UK driving license.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
