🚧 ROAD CLOSURE REMINDER – ANNAN ROAD 🚧

Just a reminder that various parts of Annan Road will be closed this coming week, which could affect journeys to and from the Theory Test Centre and driving lessons in the area.

📅 MONDAY & TUESDAY
The road will be closed just after the entrance to Aldi.

📅 WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY
The closure will move further up Annan Road, at the junction with Browningg Loaning, towards the Theory Test Centre.

⚠️ If you’re heading to the Theory Test Centre, make sure you check your route beforehand and leave plenty of time.

☀️ Holiday Time! ☀️

A different type of Rhodes for me over the next couple of weeks! 😎✈️

The car is parked up for a couple of weeks to enjoy some quality time with family and friends. I’ll see you all when I’m back at work on Monday 17th August.

In the meantime, keep up the practice—whether that’s getting out on the road or revising for your theory test. Every little bit helps!

🚧 Hot Topic – Dumfries Road Works 🚧

Just a reminder that there are more road works and closures planned over the coming weeks around Dumfries.

It’s also worth keeping an eye on the Dumfries and Galloway Council page for any updates or changes to the schedule.

Some of the notable closures still to come are:
🚧 Laurieknowe - 27th-29th July
🚧 Lockerbie Road – 28th–30th July
🚧 Cassalands – 30th–31st July
🚧 Pleasance Avenue – 3rd–7th August
🚧 Brooms Road – 10th–12th August

If you’ve got a journey planned, make sure you allow a little extra time and plan your route in advance.

Let’s hope these closures don’t cause quite as much chaos as they did last week! 😂🚗

🎉 Massive Congratulations to William! 🎉

William passed his driving test first time in Dumfries this week! 🚗💨

William came to me for a few lessons to help him on the final stretch towards getting his driving licence. He already had heaps of experience from riding with a CBT, holding a tractor licence, and plenty of time behind the wheel, so it was simply a case of brushing up on a few areas before test day.

A fantastic result and thoroughly deserved—well done, William! 👏

If you’ve already got some driving experience but want a few lessons to prepare for your test, don’t hesitate to get in touch. A few lessons can make all the difference! 📩

A big thank you to William’s mum for taking him to his test while I was away. You’ve now got plenty of choice for a lift—both the boys are officially on the road now! 🚗🚗

Kami absolutely smashed it today, passing his driving test in Dumfries with just 1 driving fault… now that’s a Class Pass! 🚗💨

Test day nerves can get to anyone, but Kami kept his cool, stayed focused, and produced a fantastic drive from start to finish. A thoroughly deserved result and a brilliant achievement! 👏

🎉 Massive Congratulations to Charlie! 🎉

Charlie absolutely smashed it today by passing his driving test first time in Dumfries! 🚗💨

It was a fantastic drive from start to finish, with just one driver fault… which gave us all a laugh when he almost stopped at a green light! 🚦😂

It’s been an absolute pleasure teaching you to drive. I’ve been there cheering you on to a boxing gold medal, and now I’ve had the privilege of seeing you earn your driving licence too. 🥇🚗

What’s next, Charlie? Whatever it is, I’m sure you’ll smash that as well!

The Summer Intern has officially started! 😄

If you spot any missed bits on the car over the next few weeks… I’m blaming my apprentice! 😂

Pay isn’t great, the tea breaks are frequent, and productivity depends entirely on the promise of an ice cream afterwards! 🍦😆

In all seriousness, it’s great to have a little helper during the summer holidays.

As the summer months get underway, officers across Dumfries and Galloway are launching our targeted Summer Drink & Drug Drive Campaign 2026.

Throughout the campaign, you’ll see increased police patrols and both planned and spontaneous road checks across the region. Our aim is simple – keep everyone safe on our roads through education, prevention and, where necessary, enforcement.

⚠️ We continue to see a concerning number of drivers choosing to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs, with drug driving becoming an increasing issue.

🚗 Remember:

❌ There is no safe limit for driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

⚖️ You will lose your licence, face a criminal conviction, receive a substantial fine, and could even go to prison.
