Your suspension takes a hammering every day.

Potholes, speed bumps, rough roads and thousands of miles all put extra strain on springs, shock absorbers and suspension joints. The problem is many suspension faults develop gradually, so drivers often don't notice them until an MOT or a more serious issue appears.

Warning signs can include:

🔧 Knocking or clunking noises
🔧 Excessive bouncing after bumps
🔧 Uneven tyre wear
🔧 Poor handling or stability in corners

With our roads in the condition they're in, it's no surprise suspension repairs are one of the most common jobs we see in the workshop.

If your car doesn't feel quite right, don't ignore it. A small issue today could become a much bigger repair tomorrow. Give us a call:

We all have one that winds us up...

Is it:

👉 Middle lane hoggers
👉 No thank-you wave after you let someone out
👉 Full beam left on
👉 Queue jumpers at the last second
👉 People who park over two spaces

Or have we missed your biggest driving pet peeve? 😤

Drop it in the comments and let's see which one annoys drivers the most. 🍿

We can't fix bad drivers... but thankfully we can fix your car!

Tyre blowouts aren't just something that happens to "old tyres", they're often the result of a problem that's been developing for weeks or even months.

In summer, tyres work harder. Higher road temperatures combined with motorway speeds generate significant heat inside the tyre. If the tyre is already weakened by low pressure, damage, age or excessive wear, that extra heat can be enough to cause a sudden failure.

Common causes of tyre blowouts include:

⚠️ Driving on under-inflated tyres
⚠️ Worn or damaged sidewalls
⚠️ Impact damage from potholes or kerbs
⚠️ Overloading the vehicle
⚠️ Ignoring slow punctures

The scary part? Many tyres look perfectly fine at a glance.

That's why regular tyre inspections are so important, especially before long journeys, holidays and motorway driving.

A quick tyre check today could prevent a breakdown tomorrow.

That musty smell when you switch on the air con isn't just unpleasant, it's often a sign that bacteria, mould and fungi have built up inside the system.

Over the colder months, moisture can collect in the air conditioning system, creating the perfect environment for unwanted microbes to grow. When you turn the air con back on, those smells - and particles - get blown straight into the cabin.

Signs your air con needs attention:

❄️ Musty or damp smell from the vents
❄️ Reduced cooling performance
❄️ Windows taking longer to demist
❄️ Unusual noises when the system is running

An air con service combined with an antibacterial treatment helps clean the system, improve performance and leave your car smelling fresh again.

With warmer weather here, now is the perfect time to make sure your air conditioning is working exactly as it should.

I thought it was an early birthday present...

Then I opened the box and realised it was a set of Ford Transit brake pads. 😅

To be fair, they do come in a pretty fancy box!

Jokes aside, we only fit quality parts from trusted manufacturers because when it comes to stopping a van loaded with tools, materials or deliveries, there's no room for compromise.

Maybe not the birthday surprise I was hoping for, but we'll take new brake parts over socks any day. 😂

What's the strangest thing you've ever been excited to receive at work?

Your steering should feel smooth, precise and predictable - anything else is a warning sign.

If you’re noticing any of the below, it’s worth getting it checked sooner rather than later 👇

👉 Heavy or stiff steering – could be power steering issues or low fluid
👉 Knocking or clunking when turning – often worn joints or components
👉 Steering pulling to one side – alignment or suspension problems
👉 Vibration through the wheel – tyres, balancing or worn parts

Steering faults don’t just affect comfort, they directly impact your control of the car.

We’ll carry out a proper inspection, check all key components and get to the root of the issue, not just mask it.

If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.

Run-flat tyres are a great bit of kit… but they’re often misunderstood.

They’re designed with reinforced sidewalls, which means if you get a puncture you can still drive, usually up to around 50 miles at reduced speed, instead of being stuck at the roadside.

Sounds ideal, right? Here’s what most people aren’t told 👇

➡️ Once driven on flat, they usually can’t be repaired, they’ll need replacing
➡️ You’re still limited on speed and distance, they’re not a long-term solution
➡️ They rely heavily on your TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), without it, you might not even realise you’ve got a puncture
➡️ They can wear differently and are often more expensive than standard tyres

We see a lot of customers caught out by this, especially when they’ve never had to deal with a puncture before.

If your car’s on run-flats and you’re not 100% sure how they work (or what your options are), just ask, we’ll talk you through it properly 👍

Timing belts aren’t something you can “chance” and we see the consequences far too often.

The timing belt controls the precise movement of your engine’s internal components. If it snaps, the pistons and valves collide instantly… and that usually means serious engine damage, not a quick fix.
➡️ Bent valves
➡️ Damaged pistons
➡️ Potential full engine rebuild or replacement

Most manufacturers recommend replacing the timing belt around every 5 years or 60,000 miles, but it varies depending on the vehicle, so it’s not one-size-fits-all.

The problem?

There’s often no warning before failure.
That’s why we always say, if you’re unsure when yours was last done, it’s worth checking before it becomes a much bigger (and more expensive) issue.

We carry out timing belt replacements in-house, using the correct locking tools, procedures and manufacturer data, exactly how it should be done.

Not sure when yours was last done? Or you know it was due a few thousand miles back...get in touch today and we will help:

New bit of kit just landed 👀

Always investing in the workshop so we can keep doing things properly in-house: quicker turnaround, better results and no need to send jobs elsewhere.

This one’s going to be a game changer for some of the more specialist work we do.

Quick question… do you actually know what’s in the boot of your car? 👀

A lot of modern cars no longer come with a proper spare wheel. Instead, you might have:
🔹 A space-saver spare
🔹 Run-flat tyres
🔹 Just an inflation kit
🔹 Or nothing at all

That can be a nasty surprise when you’re stuck at the side of the road with a puncture.

If you’re not sure what your car has pop in and we’ll happily check and advise on your options. 👍
