MGA repairs and paint all done, the real hard work of wet flatting, or flat n polish is underway.
Red does make it worth the effort though!

This camper had been painted elsewhere not too long ago, and the metalwork issues had been missed in several places. So we were tasked with making this last this time, by cutting out all of the rot - and the bodge - before making the inner panels and then welding on the outer lower skin.
You’ll notice the measurement marks; Phil doubles up on making sure all is square before cutting so that the new panel doesn’t end up on the squint…

Waaaaay back in the mists of time I used to keep this on the road for the previous owners, a delightful family who lived in the same street as my workshop.
Still comes in every year for a Vehicle Health Check, which we offer as an alternative to an MOT on exempt vehicles.

The brakes needed a bleed, but apart from that it was all good…..obviously been well looked after in the past 🤷‍♂️😄

MGA accident damage all repaired, primed and painted. Refit first thing and then it’ll be ready for the open road again.

This car has been driving like a dog for a while: new fuel tank and carbs, plus a check of the pump operation made all the difference.
And the customer feedback makes it all worthwhile.

Can you believe someone didn’t see this beast coming! Side impact damage repaired on the car due to the wing not being able to be removed.
The positive I’m taking from this is the fact it definitely helped with holding the wing in place and enabled Pete to wield his hammers with more force than Thor 🔨 💥

There’s more than a touch of Hollywood around these parts….and only some of it is related to the cars.

In this week:

Mr Miyagi’s car in Karate Kid: now strictly speaking, this was a Ford Super Deluxe, and the model we have in is the related (but larger) Mercury 8. A more luxury model, but you’d be amazed how many folks recognise it.

Charlie’s (Kelly McGillis) 356 Speedster: In Top Gun this almost took the crown for me, even with all the F-14 Tomcats. The one we have in is a replica, admittedly, but retains the beautiful lines of the original. Simon (the owner) has slightly different lines to Kelly in the 80’s but still brings his own glamour to it all.

We’re getting through them: from engine rebuilds to clutch line replacements, and servicing / MOT work, they’re lining up and we’re getting them out.
