Cardiff Garage Sees Record-Breaking Demand for Air Conditioning Repairs This Summer... Sponsored feature post.
A five-star rated Cardiff garage says it has experienced its busiest ever summer for vehicle air conditioning repairs and recharging, with demand reaching record levels as motorists look to stay cool during the recent warm weather.
Chrissy Marshall, owner of Marshall's Auto Centre at the Bessemer Road Fruit Market, told Cardiff City News that he has never seen anything like it in his decades as a vehicle mechanic.
"It's been absolutely relentless this summer. We've recharged and repaired more air conditioning systems than ever before. Every day we're seeing everything from simple low refrigerant levels through to leaking condensers, failed compressors, worn seals, damaged pipework and electrical faults. There isn't just one common issue – it's been a real mixture of problems."
Marshall says many drivers make the mistake of only thinking about their air conditioning when it stops blowing cold.
"People often assume an air con recharge is all they need, but if a system has lost its refrigerant, there's usually a reason. Air conditioning systems are sealed, so refrigerant shouldn't simply disappear. A leak or another underlying fault could be developing, and catching it early can save drivers a much bigger repair bill down the line."
He also advises motorists not to leave their air conditioning systems empty for extended periods.
"The refrigerant carries compressor oil around the air conditioning system, returning it to the compressor where it provides essential lubrication. If the refrigerant charge is low or the system is empty, oil circulation is reduced, which can increase compressor wear if the system continues to operate. Running the air conditioning periodically throughout the year including during winter, when conditions allow, helps circulate the oil, keep seals lubricated, and maintain the system in good working order."
Marshall's Auto Centre offers a complete range of vehicle air conditioning services, including diagnostics, leak detection, re-gassing, component replacement, compressor repairs, condenser replacement and full system maintenance.
"No job is too big or too small," added Marshall. "Whether it's a straightforward recharge or a major repair, we'll diagnose the faults first and make sure customers understand exactly what's needed to get their air conditioning working efficiently again."
With temperatures expected to remain warm over the coming weeks, the garage is encouraging drivers to have their air conditioning systems checked before minor issues develop into costly repairs.
