🚗💨 LANE HOGGING — ARE YOU GUILTY OF IT? 💨🚗

🤔 What is “lane hogging”?

On UK motorways, the left-hand lane is the normal driving lane.

The middle and right-hand lanes are primarily for OVERTAKING — not cruising!

🚨 Highway Code Rule 264 says you should:

✅ Keep to the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear
✅ Use the middle/right lanes only for overtaking
✅ Return to the left-hand lane when it is safe to do so

❌ DON’T stay in the middle lane unnecessarily!

Middle-lane hogging can:

⚠️ Obstruct other traffic
⚠️ Increase congestion
⚠️ Encourage unsafe overtaking manoeuvres
⚠️ Lead to enforcement action

🚔 IT CAN BE AN OFFENCE

Unnecessary middle-lane driving may be dealt with as careless or inconsiderate driving.

💷 Fixed Penalty Notice:
£100 + 3 penalty points

In more serious cases, you could be prosecuted in court, where penalties can include:

💰 An unlimited fine
📍 3–9 penalty points
🚫 Disqualification from driving

👀 SO, NEXT TIME YOU’RE ON THE MOTORWAY…

Check your mirrors.
Look ahead.
If the left lane is clear — move back over!

👉 Keep left unless overtaking.

Distressing footage, but this happens far to much on our roads, as driving instructors we try and educate and do everything we can pre test and post to make you aware of the dangers, what could happen and what does happen far far too often, but ultimately you the driver as responsible for everything that happens when your behind the wheel please please don’t drink/ drug and drive this isn’t just 1 persons life ruined it’s multiple

🦌 Deer Collision Warning Issued After 13 Fawns Killed on Local Roads

Motorists are being urged to take extra care after 13 fawns were killed in collisions on local roads over the past three weeks.

Staffordshire Police have issued a warning to drivers travelling through areas where deer are commonly seen, including Cannock Chase and Norton Canes, following a rise in wildlife-related incidents.

Young deer are particularly unpredictable and can suddenly run into the road, often following other members of their herd. Police say reducing speed and remaining alert can help prevent collisions, protecting both wildlife and road users.

Drivers are being advised to:

* ⚠️ Take extra care during dawn and dusk, when deer are most active.
* ⚠️ Watch for deer warning signs.
* ⚠️ If you see one deer, expect others to be nearby.

Authorities are reminding motorists that slowing down in known deer hotspots can significantly reduce the risk of serious collisions and help prevent further unnecessary deaths.

Anyone travelling through Cannock Chase, Norton Canes, and surrounding rural roads is encouraged to remain vigilant and adjust their speed to suit the conditions.
