Yesterday’s Budget was fairly quiet on vehicles, but there are a few changes worth knowing about:
• Company car tax: EV BiK is confirmed at 10% for 2030/31. Cars emitting 1–50g/km will move to 20%, with other bands increasing by 1%.
• Cars: Standard VED rate will rise to £210 from April 2027.
• Vans: VED for most vans will rise to £375 from April 2027.
• Capital allowances: the first-year allowance will increase from 40% to 50% on qualifying expenditure from January 2027, including eligible leased vans.
• Electric vehicle mileage tax: eVED is still due to launch in April 2028, with further work underway on mileage reporting and refunds.
