Speed can change everything
My deepest sympathies are with the families, friends and communities grieving those who were killed in the recent high-speed, wrong-way driving incidents. No family should have to endure such sudden and devastating loss.
These tragedies are a heartbreaking reminder of the consequences of reckless and irresponsible behaviour behind the wheel. While the families of the victims deserve our compassion and support, dangerous driving must also be clearly condemned.
Driving at excessive speed or deliberately travelling against the flow of traffic is not a mistake or a display of confidence. It is dangerous, selfish and completely unacceptable.
• 🚗 Speed does not prove driving ability. It shows poor judgement.
• ⚠️ Driving the wrong way is reckless and can cause catastrophic harm.
• 📵 Put your phone away. No message or post is worth risking a life.
• 👥 Do not allow friends to encourage dangerous driving — and do not be the person who encourages it.
One reckless choice can kill innocent people and destroy another family’s life. There is nothing impressive, brave or skilful about driving dangerously. It is a failure of judgement with potentially fatal consequences.
Please keep the victims’ families in your thoughts and remember that safe driving is a responsibility we all share.
