I’ve now found Mr Jacobs’ original invoice, which records exactly what we found when the vehicle was inspected by us.
The car was booked in, checked and returned to the customer with our findings clearly written on the invoice. We inspected the vehicle on 5th August 2025.
The MOT failure being referred to took place on 12th September 2026, more than 12 months later. A great deal can change with a vehicle over that length of time, so it seems unreasonable to suggest that an issue identified more than a year later must have been present, or “severe”, when we originally saw the car.
Had there been a severe or dangerous issue at the time of our inspection, it would have been recorded and the customer advised accordingly.
For a little perspective on the star rating itself, Mr Jacobs has also awarded Stonehenge 1 star and McDonald’s 5 stars, so it appears we may simply have different ideas about what constitutes a five-star experience.
