"Feeling a bit 'un-cool' lately? 🧊 We’re here to fix that!
Our AC service is officially the coolest thing in Bodmin.

While a working air conditioning system is a matter of comfort in a traditional car, it is mission-critical in an Electric Vehicle (EV) or Hybrid. In these vehicles, the AC system does much more than just cool the cabin; it is often the primary life-support system for the vehicle's most expensive component: the battery.

Here are the key benefits of a properly maintained AC system for EVs and Hybrids:

Heat is the number one enemy of lithium-ion batteries.

• A healthy AC system keeps the battery within its optimal operating temperature.
• Consistently running a battery too hot due to a failing AC system will accelerate chemical degradation, leading to a permanent loss of total driving range and a shorter overall lifespan for the vehicle.

An efficient, well-gassed AC system actually helps your range.

• When an AC system is low on gas, the compressor has to work much run longer to achieve the desired temperature.
• In an EV, the compressor is powered directly by the high-voltage battery. An overworked compressor drains the battery faster, noticeably reducing your miles per charge.

EV and Hybrid AC compressors are high-voltage electrical
components. They require specialized non-conductive (POE) oils.

Tech Corner @ A1 Autocare

'Down the drain....'

We've had lots of nice little diagnostic jobs in recently to get our teeth stuck in with, including this Nissan brought to us with a fairly hefty battery drain. Customer had repeated issues with the battery going flat overnight, so we were more than happy to take a look.

Plenty of opportunity to get our thinking caps on, put together a nice logical test plan and call upon some of the tools we have to help make the whole process more swift and proven

Result? A confirmed diagnosis in a reasonable time frame and a happy car that now starts on the button in the morning 👌🏼
