When did you last check your tyres? 🛞 🚗 🏍️

As October draws to a close, we’re continuing to remind drivers that a few simple checks can make a big difference to road safety.

Earlier this month, our team joined partners in St Helens to offer practical tyre safety advice and help motorists understand what to look for when checking their tyres.

But tyre safety isn’t just important during October!

Before your next journey, take a few minutes to check:

Tread depth: The legal minimum for cars is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around its entire circumference.

True pressure: Check your tyres when they’re cold, using the pressures recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.

Tyre condition: Look for cuts, cracks, bulges and signs of uneven wear.

Your tyres are the only part of your vehicle in contact with the road. Keeping them in good condition helps maintain grip, braking performance and control.

Don’t wait until something goes wrong to discover there’s a problem.

Make tyre checks part of your regular routine, not just something you think about during Tyre Safety Month.

Safe tyres = Safer journeys.

Buckle up!

It’s one of the simplest things you can do before setting off, but it could make all the difference if you’re involved in a collision.

Wearing your seatbelt could save your life.

Seatbelts are designed to protect you in a collision, reducing the risk of serious injury or death by helping to keep you securely in your seat.

And it doesn’t matter whether you’re travelling across the country or just making a short journey through the Mersey Tunnels.

Buckle up before you set off and make sure your passengers are wearing theirs.

Our new road safety camera technology at the Kingsway Tunnel is now operational.

As part of our commitment to safer journeys, the technology can help identify drivers and passengers who aren’t wearing a seatbelt.

It’s about protecting lives.
