We’re planning to replace the central deck at Upton Road Bridge (M53) later this year – and we’d love to hear from you.

🚧 To prepare for the work, essential utility diversions began on 1 June 2026. We’re working closely with utility providers and local councils to keep disruption to a minimum.

🗺 When the bridge closes later this year, a signed diversion route will be in place. The bridge will remain partially open for:
• 🚶 Pedestrians
• 🚑 Emergency services
• 🚌 Buses

Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking

🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

More changes to driving test bookings are coming 🚘

From 9 June, you’ll only be able to change your test booking to the 3 nearest test centres.

🚨From 9 June, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.

If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:

✅ any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked

✅ the test centre you first booked at on that current booking

If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at on 9 June – not where you first booked.
