We’re proud to see our fully electric food waste collection vehicle recognised alongside other pioneering operators. Our Renault Trucks UK D18 Wide is already helping us collect food waste across Glasgow and the Central Belt with zero tailpipe emissions, lower noise and a real-world range of almost 180km per charge.

For us, sustainability isn’t just about what happens to waste once it reaches its destination. It’s also about how we collect it.

A huge thank you to SMMT for highlighting the progress being made across the sector and to our partners at Renault Trucks, Macpac Ltd. for helping turn a cleaner vision for food waste collection into reality.

A Day in the Life of BioBee 🐝

Recently, Shona, one of our Customer Account Advisors, spent a sunny day out on the road with Barry, one of our BioBee Food Waste Collection Drivers.

As part of our Customer Team, Shona and Andi support customers with all BioBee enquiries from start to finish, from setting up new sites to managing invoicing and everything in between. To provide the very best service, it's essential that our team understands not only the customer journey but also the operational side of our food waste collection service.

Spending time alongside Barry gave Shona valuable first-hand insight into how BioBee operates day to day, the challenges our drivers can face, and the important role our customers play in helping collections run smoothly and efficiently.

By getting out into the field and seeing operations in action, our team can better understand our customers' needs, provide informed support, and continue delivering the high level of service we're proud of.

Responsibilities include:
-preparation of components to be fitted.
-fitting of components and ensuring they’re secured correctly.
-testing of components operation and ensuring they’re fully operational.
-provide feedback to the production team when required.
-completing any associated paperwork.

-Mechanical experience required.
-Coach building experience.

Auto Electrical Engineer

Macpac Refuse Bodies requires an electrical fitter to assemble, fit, and test electrical looms and equipment such as cameras, reverse sensors, beacons, weighing systems, scene lighting to our Macpac bodies and new chassis on our assemble line.

Key responsibilities for the electrical fitter include:

Assembly and Fitting:
Assembling electrical components, wiring, and control panels according to schematics and drawings.
Repair and Maintenance: After testing diagnosing and repairing any faults in electrical equipment and systems.
Testing and Quality Control: Ensuring that work is completed to required standards and specifications.
Following Technical Documents: Interpreting and working from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
Collaboration: Working with engineers and other team members to complete projects.
Safety and Compliance: Maintaining a safe and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge:
A strong understanding of electrical principles, components, and systems.
Manual Dexterity: Precision and hand skills for working with small components and wiring.
Problem-Solving: The ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults after assemble.
Experience: Experience in electrical assembly, wiring, and testing, often gained through an apprenticeship or relevant training.
Ability to read schematics and drawings: Understanding technical documents is crucial for this role.
