Edmonton β€” Day 2 πŸοΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Another early start and a big day for Miles for Sight!

First stop was 880 CHED Radio Edmonton for an 8:30 a.m. LIVE interview with Stacey Brotzel. πŸŽ™οΈ It was a great opportunity to talk about the Four Corners of Canada ride, Miles for Sight and why raising awareness and funds for CNIB means so much to me.

From there, I headed back to CARSTAR Edmonton Gateway, where I met Serra Hamilton from CBC Edmonton AM for another interview about the journey. Two radio interviews in one morning and two more opportunities to spread the Miles for Sight message across Canada. πŸŽ™οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Next was a visit to CNIB Edmonton, where I had the pleasure of meeting Jaden and Malik. ❀️ Moments like this bring everything back to the reason I'm out here doing this.

My final Edmonton stop was Harley-Davidson Edmonton, where Marketing Coordinator & Administration Maggie Tate welcomed me and put up the Miles for Sight poster.

The Pan America needed some attention too. The fuel pump had become pretty noisy, so the Harley-Davidson Edmonton service department replaced it and got me ready to continue east. πŸ”§πŸοΈ

Heading east from Whitehorse with one corner left β€” Cape Spear, Newfoundland. πŸοΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The Alaska Highway gave me another moment I’ll never forget.
At Kilometre 743, I came around a corner and there he was β€” one massive 2,000 lb bison, standing alone. He stared at me, then started running down the highway. I caught up and for about 45 metres, that incredible animal ran right beside me and the Pan America. 🦬🏍️

The money shot of the trip?

My Insta360 was packed away because of the earlier rain. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜ž Some moments you capture on camera. Others you just get to keep forever.

At least I managed to catch a black bear on video! πŸ»πŸ˜‚

We arrived in Grande Cache, Alberta, just after the famous 118 km Canadian Death Race and met a couple of runners who told us they had made it about 65 km before severe thunderstorms forced them β€” along with many others β€” to pack it in.

After the Dempster, the weather and all those kilometres, two nights in Grande Cache gave us a chance to rest and recharge.

Then it was time to KEEP GOING. 🏍️

Next up ➑️ Edmonton.

TUKTOYAKTUK ➑️ WHITEHORSE πŸοΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The North Corner was complete. Now we had to make our way back down the Dempster.

After leaving Tuktoyaktuk, we made it back to Inuvik around 9:30 at night. Of course, when I spotted a NAPA Auto Parts I had to stop for a picture β€” even though they were long closed! πŸ˜‚

Then the race was on.

We needed to catch both ferries before they shut down for the night. We managed to catch the last run of the first ferry... but just missed the second.

So we found a campsite about 15 minutes away, got some sleep and were up early to catch the first ferry the next morning.

From there it was back to Eagle Plains for lunch, where we picked up our Arctic Circle certificates, fuelled up and continued south toward Dawson City.

We arrived in Dawson at 9:50 PM β€” five minutes too late for the Sourtoe Cocktail! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚

Last call was 9:45. I tried my best to talk the bartender into letting me have one, but there was no changing his mind.

That one hurt! After travelling all that way, I may never get another chance. πŸ˜‚

We tried to continue all the way back to Dave Muir's in Whitehorse, but exhaustion finally won. We pulled into a rest stop for the night and were back on the road around 5:00 the next morning.

And sometimes an early start gives you something special...

Eventually we made it back to Whitehorse, returned the rental camper and got back to Dave's place. After everything the Dempster had thrown at the Pan America, it was time to swap the off-road wheels back to my road set and get ready for the next chapter.

The Arctic was behind me.
