finished up a wooden buck for a set of wheel tubs for a current project. although it might not look like much but there's quite a bit of designing when it comes to creating a piece like this. A lot of variables get taken into consideration such as wheel/tyre diameter and edge radius, suspension travel including the swing ark of the diff not just vertical travel as the diff will travel forwards and backwards slightly throughout its stroke, torsional travel of the diff and the clearance to the inner wheel tubs and the quarter flare, clearance behind the tyre for water and debris deflection as well as visual impact.
the problem with generic spun wheel tubs or drag style tubs is most of the time you're unnecessarily sacrificing needed space for the rear seat as well as loosing quite a bit of structural integrity in the rear of the car if not designed correctly which is why I choose to put more effort into an area that would normally be overlooked.
