This Honda VFR750F is a bike we always enjoy servicing - one of the RC24 road bikes with gear driven cams that was first released in 1986. This bike evolved into the legendary RC30.
The bikes won races from day one with Mike Haslam winning the Transatlantic Trophy in the rain in 1986 straight from a dealer showroom.
It's still a superb bike on the road and one of Honda's most collectable motorcycles.

Today's rain is a bit of a contrast to Saturday when SurfSide Motorcycle Club held its AGM . We had a great roll up and social with plenty of cold drinks and hot snags. The past year saw the club up it's riding game with a free First Aid course for members and full med kit now ready for our next adventure. With 3 rides on the schedule before year end we aren't slowing down. Thanks to the committee who were reelected to continue their good work

Suzuki's big Kat has many loyal fans. Some like this bikes owner have both the 1980's original and the modern reinterpretation in the garage.
No question the 80's bike requires more physical effort to ride but the latest version whilst providing the rider with more refinement retains the ballistic DNA of the original.
Pink slip completed this example is ready for summer.

The Honda SL125 was a very familiar sight around Australia in the early 1970's and their popularity means there are quite a few tucked away in sheds and farms.
This example is one such example - 2 owners, 10,000 km, and very original from up the coast. Original dealers key is an added bonus - it still runs very well and will give it's new owner a lot of pleasure.

Two heads are better than one.
It's fascinating to look at the advances in engine design. Here we have the heads from two 850cc motorcycles - on the left the two valve, pushrod Norton from the 1970's - on the right a five valve, double overhead cam head from a 90's Yamaha TRX.
More complexity does result in more performance but you do start to hit diminishing returns when it comes to maintaining bikes for potentially 50 or 60 years of use which is where the Norton is at.

Following our July First Aid course, we have now ordered a portable defibrillator and kit to go on our Club rides. We hope to never even turn the device on, but we take the responsibility of these runs being well organised pretty seriously. We now have sat nav and first aid going on the big rides.
On a lighter note, come down on Saturday, 10th October, for our AGM and check this cool new device out. BBQ from 2.00 pm and AGM at 3.00 pm. New members and friends of the club are especially welcome. For any queries, call Rob – 0416 854 023
