Rodney grew up in Nugent and Daphne (nee Jacobson) grew up in Kellevie and later Dunalley. Both born in the Great Depression and were raised pre & post WW2. Families helped each other out during these times. Names like White, Cusick, Stokes, Thornbury, Wiggins, Farrow, Tattnell, Swan, Gillie, Woolley, Brander, Kingston, Newitt, Brown, Walker, Bailey, Jones, Weeding, Pearce, Reardon, Gatehouse, Gregson (sorry if I've missed anyone. I'm editing name in as I go) were common names in the area. Rodney secured a loan for 200 pounds and got it started at 38 Gordon Street with all the timber being milled at Dodridge's timber mill. All the other bits and pieces may or may not have been indirectly donated from the Hobart airport where Rodney worked for Gordon Jennings after completing his apprenticeship at the DMR in Derwent Park.
