Travelling with a caravan or camper trailer does increase your fuel consumption which is more apparent than ever with the ongoing fuel issues. But how do we keep that down as much as possible???
Caravan and Camping SA published a great guide in their recent newsletter which includes useful tips to reduce your fuel consumption whilst out exploring.
At Make Trax we have taken care in choosing caravan models that help to reduce fuel consumption, including poptop models and lightweight vans. We keep them well maintained and make sure the tyre have plenty of air in them..
Recently we took a trip to the Grampians with the Journey from our fleet towed by our trusty Prado (lifted with 4x4 tyres) and achieved a round trip average of 13.9 L / 100km.
We use many of the tips in the attached publication as standard, and in addition we find that not using cruise control is worthwhile unless you are cruising on flat ground with minimal headwinds….
