New OEM fan for RB20DET / RB26DETT, mounted on the RB20DET clutch assembly. This has given an extra 10mm clearance to the radiator.

Yesterday I entered the workshop of my closest competitor 😮 Steve and I fight for tenths of seconds in the Victorian Hillclimb Championship, but we have friendly competition and respect. His R33 is a weapon.

He offered the hoist in his workshop and we could do a general underbody inspection after my issue with the fan hitting the radiator. It seems to be a few factors: the RHS lower radiator mount had about 5mm movement, the gearbox crossmember has elongated holes for easy fitment, but seems to have allowed movement forward. And the fan is probably flexing (its old, from an R33 RB25, and they have an offset that sits furtherforward than the RB20).

Remedies: fitted bigger grommet holding the lower radiator mount, ordered new OEM RB20 fan, and I need to get the elongated holes filled 🤔 Will probably bring a spare radiator to Hillclimbs out of paranoia 😵‍💫

The fan hit the radiator again. Why? How can it move far enough to hit the radiator? What do I need to check to ensure this doesn't happen again?

Here’s an appreciation for the 【公式】WORK WHEELS Meister CR-01. These were my goal for a few years before I had the funds to buy them.

When I get close to the time of purchase, deciding on the offset took time. My good old mates Dan Robson and jrodshabadoo helped 😀

Then I found the the 4 stud didn't come with 'big brake clearance' to make sure they cleared the Sumitomo 4pots. So I decided to convert the car to 5 stud. The rear hubs of HR31, Z31, S12 and F31 are interchangeable and I got a pair from a Z31. The fronts were made by Angry Industries

First run of the day - 68.33 - at the final round of the Victorian Hillclimb Championship at Bryant Park. This was also my only run because I had a "cooling failure". This time of 68.33 held 2nd place in class C6 until the 4th run when Steve Baird went under 68 seconds. I landed 3rd in C6 on the day and in the Championship.
