If you've towed anything with a 2.8lt Prado, you'll know the feeling. Sitting on 100, and the gearbox just won't settle.
It hunts. It drops a gear on the smallest rise. It holds on far longer than it needs to. Owners put up with it because that's just what the car does — but it isn't what the car has to do.
We've spent a lot of time on this platform. The thing we keep coming back to is that the engine and the transmission are one job, not two. Tune one without the other and you've only fixed half of it.
This one came in for the full engine and transmission tune.
Here's the results:
✅ 96kW → 123kW at the wheels
✅ 371Nm → 491Nm at the wheels
✅ Top gear held at highway speed
✅ Cleaner shift logic under load and towing
✅ A car that drives better in all conditions
It's the same story across the 2.8lt range — Hilux, Fortuner and Prado.
The numbers are good, but the part that matters is how it drives at the end of a long day towing.
If your 2.8lt has been frustrating you, give the team a call, we've got it sorted.
