⭐The James Bell Overall Apprentice of the Year⭐

The James Bell Overall Apprentice of the Year – Oliver King – GTNT Group Hosted to Power and Water Corporation.

Oliver King is completing a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician with GTNT Group, hosted to Power and Water Corporation in Alice Springs. Inspired by his grandfather, a fitter, turner and engineer, Oliver developed a strong interest in how things work from an early age. He built hands-on skills through mechanics, welding, and bicycle maintenance, which laid the foundation for his trade career. Since relocating to Alice Springs to begin his apprenticeship, Oliver has embraced a wide range of challenging experiences. These include remote area work, helicopter-based inspections, cyclone response activities, and major power restoration efforts following severe weather events. These opportunities have strengthened his technical ability, resilience, and teamwork under pressure. Oliver is recognised for his willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and ability to adapt to demanding environments. He continues to build confidence in applying his skills in real operational settings while supporting essential services across the Northern Territory.

⭐2026 fabrication & manufacturing apprentice of the year⭐

Fabrication & Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year – Melanie Revell – GTNT Group

Melanie Revell is a boilermaker apprentice undertaking a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade through Charles Darwin University. Employed by GTNT Group and hosted to South32 – GEMCO, she works across remote Northern Territory sites including Darwin, Groote Eylandt and Wurrumiyanga in a FIFO environment. Her interest in the trade began in childhood, growing up working alongside her father and sisters in the shed, where she developed a strong passion for hands-on projects and practical problem solving. Encouraged by her father, a tradesperson, she learned early the importance of pride in workmanship, persistence and doing things properly. Melanie chose the boiler making pathway as an opportunity for real growth and challenge, embracing the demands of a male-dominated industry. She is focused on building strong technical skills, particularly in welding and fabrication, while continuing to prove herself through consistent effort and quality work in demanding industrial environments.

⭐2026 electrical apprentice of the year ⭐

Electrical Apprentice of the Year – Jenna Ransome – GTNT Group

Janna Ransome is currently completing her Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician through CDU, employed by GTNT Group and hosted to Territory Generation. She is building strong capability across both domestic and industrial electrical environments, with experience ranging from house rough-ins and solar installations through to high voltage systems including 132kV transformers, large pump systems, and industrial motors essential to power generation. Her apprenticeship has provided exposure to complex operational environments, including commissioning activities and instrumentation concepts such as valve stroking and system testing. Working across HV, LV and ELV systems has strengthened her technical understanding, attention to detail, and commitment to safety in high-risk environments. Janna is also a mother to a young daughter, which has shaped her resilience, time management, and motivation to succeed in her trade. As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry, she is passionate about encouraging more women to pursue careers in electrotechnology.
