RT Motorsports to Enter World Sportbike Championship as Honda Team in 2027
RT Motorsports is proud to announce that it will join the World Sportbike Championship in 2027 as Honda team, marking a new chapter for the Dutch team and a return to a paddock in which it has built a strong and successful presence over many years.
RT Motorsports first made its mark in the WorldSBK paddock in 2011, competing in the Superstock 600 category with rider Jed Metcher and, together with MTM, securing the championship title.
Since 2016, the team has been a consistent presence in the WorldSBK paddock, establishing itself as a professional and competitive operation.
During this period, RT Motorsports achieved multiple victories with a number of talented riders. In the World Supersport 300 Championship, the team also came close to fighting for the overall title, finishing runner-up with Tom Booth-Amos in 2021 and third with Inigo Iglesias in 2024.
In 2025, RT Motorsports shifted its focus towards the new Sportbike category, initially competing in the IDM Championship. The team brought Inigo Iglesias on board and immediately achieved success, with Iglesias securing the IDM Sportbike title with RT
Motorsports.
The successful Sportbike programme continued into the following season, with RT Motorsports again competing in IDM Sportbike and securing multiple victories while further strengthening its technical and operational experience in the category.
The team's years of experience, professional approach and proven results have not gone unnoticed. Following extensive discussions, RT Motorsports has reached an agreement with
Honda Motor Europe Ltd. to compete as a Honda team in the 2027 World Sportbike
Championship.
Running under the name RT Motorsports – Honda, the team will line up with two riders for the inaugural season of this new project. A new chapter with Honda begins.
Team Manager Rob Vennegoor is proud of the opportunity and the confidence placed in the team by Honda.
“We are extremely proud to take on this new project, and receiving the trust of Honda is very rewarding after many years of hard work, achieving results and, equally importantly, building strong and lasting relationships with our loyal partners.
A team is not built in one year; it is built over a much longer period. We feel a great sense of pride in reaching this point, but even more than that, we have an enormous drive to make this project with Honda a success.
We are currently in discussions with several riders, and within the coming weeks we will announce our rider line-up and partners for the 2027 season.
My thanks go to Honda for the confidence they have placed in RT Motorsports, and to all of our partners who continue to support our project. We are looking forward to taking on this new challenge together.”
The team also completed a positive test with Daniel Mogeda riding the FIM-spec Honda CBR600RR at Hockenheim last weekend, producing encouraging results and providing valuable information ahead of the 2027 season.
With that foundation in place, RT Motorsports – Honda will continue its preparations with the goal of arriving fully prepared for the start of the 2027 World Sportbike Championship
