We rolled down to diesel assault to help Dominic with his BT50. We spent a little time on the Dyno thanks to the generous man at Hassard Industries trying in vane to push the stock fuel pump to its limits. After the last diesel assault, We suggested Dom ditch’s the radials in favour for some slicks, add some Catracks and we will come down to bang a two step file in and see what she can do at the strip. Now Dom’s one of those fellas we love to hang around, as he just straight up gets stuff done. With the changes made, he managed to drop his previous PB from a 13.3 to a 12.6 .
Given the MPH didn’t change, we know the drop in ET is purely from the changes made. We ain’t stopping here though, there’s some big plans for this rig, and we can’t wait to see how far he’s going to push this thing and we will be right here bashing the keyboard and helping where we can.

Just because your car is tuned, doesn’t mean it’s tuned properly. Jordie’s Hilux came in for a fresh set of injectors and a retune. The vehicle presented a bit low on power/torque and very sooty down low. After a fresh set of injectors, fixing up a small boost leak, we did a few runs on the previous tune and then retuned the car properly. As you can see we gained massively in both power and torque down low. Spending proper time on VNT mapping which results in a boost curve that gives you that torque and driveability you expect when having your car tuned. We essentially gained over 100nm from 1600rpm to 3000rpm over the previous tune.

Dust ingress is the quickest way you’ll kill your Toyota diesel, unless it’s a FTE. Then it’s just business as usually people.

But seriously, keep an eye on your intake pipes on these older girls, they get super brittle and can crack exposing your engine to dust and dirt ingress.

When it rains, it pours. Hands down two of the tidiest FTE converted patrols I’v seen have both been through for their retunes. And man, Trav’s “slow FTE” didn’t disappoint either.

Big turbo, big injectors, big lift, even bigger tyres, billet parts everywhere, this thing ticks all the boxes. We were having some much fun thrashing on this last Friday arvo I forgot to get any pics. Trav sent us these so we can share them with the people.

He had a few requests, more limiter, more power, more fuel economy, more drive ability and sort the tunes out so they are easier to use. It’s a tough list, but from the feedback we received after he left, I think we hit them all. Picking up over 40hp and 100mm on the top tune 💪💪

How ever as always, it’s more than just peak figures. We are now carrying the power all the way to redline, running a big turbo means your going to be using some rpm, in the top end we have made massive in gains. It’s now virtually holding peak HP all the way to 4000rpm instead of falling over after 3500rpm so it was more like 60-70hp gains in the top end. On the big 37’ mud tyres it laid down a healthy 365HP and over 900nm. Very respectable power figures on the big rubber. We have him 4 nice tunes from 365hp down to around 250hp. A tune for all occasions, cleaned up all the fuelling, sorted out the throttle pedal mapping, gave him limiter on every tune plus lope idle and immo.

Shout out to the boys at hyper.fab for the killer fab working spicing up the engine bay too, on point as always.

Maintenance really is key people. This lovely 200 series with only 40,000k on the clock came in for a tune up. Blowing a lot of smoke with a sub par tune. We sorted the tune out but found it was still richer then we would like and our boost targets where not being met. After removing g the heavily clogged snorkel filter. She was back to making the number we expect to see from our towing and touring style tune.
