The promoters of TOYO Agro and Motorcycles Limited, the Vithaldas Solanki family, are well established entrepreneurs, having a number of diverse business interests. The family business comprises the second generation members. Kishen Enterprises, the family’s flagship company and TOYO Agro and Motorcycles Limited’s parent company, is one of Tanzania’s leading motorcycle trading and distribution com
panies, controlling almost 35% of the entire motorcycle sector. Kishen has developed its own brand of motorcycles, TOYO, which are both contract manufactured as well as locally assembled in Tanzania (using CKD units). Kishen Enterprises Ltd (KEL) was established in 1999 and initially involved in importing of used vehicles, engines and spare parts. Within a couple of years, the company broadened its scope to focus in trading and distribution of motorcycles and the provision of agricultural solutions to the Tanzania market. The company has since been actively involved in handling major Agricultural Machineries, Tractors, Motorcycles, Solar Range of Products and various farming implements projects and is today one of the top three motorcycles suppliers in Tanzania, having maintained this dominant position for over ten years. KEL has also developed a focused, competent and specialized team of marketing and technical personnel to provide the required timely service, technical and market support for its diverse customer base. In 2010, KEL was approved by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) as the only certified licensee with respect of the company’s flagship TOYO brand in Tanzania. This standard cover the safety related performance characteristics of the two and three wheelers motorcycles.
