Tricky little shape with a lot going on to get the flow right in the interface between the dashboard, door jamb and A-pillar.
Sometimes even having all the machines won't help you and you need to rely on shaping with hand tools only.

Design does not always translate to the real world - optimum driver seating position means we have to move the dashboard slightly to the left to centre the steering wheel in the most comfortable, natural location.
Small details that make all the difference to how the car will feel to drive.

The lesson as always - never trim your panels to final size before every detail has been checked 😎

New bonnet sides for a Model T - I didn't have Nibbler tooling for this profile and the cost of machining them wasn't justified for a one off job.
Luckily there's always another way😎

This steel bodied 30's style pickup sitting on a Nissan chassis was built from scratch some years back, by a guy with no prior metalshaping experience 😎
Done using hand tools and many of the techniques you'll learn on our 'Basics of Sheet Metal Shaping' course.

Toolday Tuesday: powered slappers have been around for years in different forms (and you can buy one from Coachsmithing.com if you're not into making your own tools)
Threw this together a few years back from a cheap palm nailer, air gun, piece of leaf spring and some scrap.
It works pretty well but I don't need it often enough to refine it further.
This week I needed it to correct a little bit too much roll that had crept in to the SLR sills during initial body fit up and welding. A little bit still to refine but we can get the correct flow to the doorskins now.
