Baby Series

Let babies MOVE! ⭐️

Car seats, prams, bouncers and baby seats all have their place — but too much time spent in containers can mean less time for your baby to freely move, explore and develop. 🌱

Babies build strength and learn new skills through movement. Kicking, reaching, rolling, tummy time and simply wriggling around on the floor all help lay the foundations for future milestones. 💪🏼🧠

Our favourite piece of baby equipment? The floor!

Give your little one plenty of safe, supervised opportunities to move freely throughout the day. Remember, it’s not about avoiding containers completely — it’s all about balance.

✨ Less contained time. More floor time. More opportunities to move!

Baby Series! 👶

Because we’re seriously serious about this topic… it matters!

Creating variety in the positions you use to carry and interact with your little one can support their development by giving them different opportunities for movement, touch, connection, and sensory exposure.

Touch matters.
Connection matters.
And so does the way you physically move your baby through the world with you. ❤️

Let’s talk about why variation matters and how small changes in the way you carry your baby can make a difference.

Baby Series

Flat heads in babies are more common than you may think 👶🏼🤍

Because a baby’s skull is still soft and developing, spending too much time with pressure on the same area can contribute to flattening of the head.

The good news? Small changes to your baby’s daily routine can make a big difference! 🌿

- Prioritise supervised tummy time
- Encourage baby to look and turn to both sides
- Alternate the side you hold and feed baby on
- Limit unnecessary time in car seats, swings and bouncers
- Give baby plenty of free movement and floor time

Movement is so important from the very beginning — not only for healthy head shape, but also for building the strength and movement skills needed for future milestones. 🤸🏼‍♀️

Movements that matter. 🤍

We build resilience, problem-solving skills, cardiovascular fitness, and create those glorious post-workout endorphin highs… but the magic goes far beyond the workout. ✨

Starting from as young as 6 weeks, these sessions support early movement and reflex development, encourage healthy physical development, and can help reduce the risk of positional flat head syndrome through varied movement and positioning.

Our Moms & Tots sessions are about so much more than movement.

But perhaps most importantly? We build a village. 🫶
A space where you and your little one can move, connect, laugh, learn, sweat, and form wholesome relationships with other moms navigating this beautiful (and sometimes chaotic!) season of life.
Because when you move together, you grow together.
Strong moms. Happy babies. Connected communities. 💛

Let’s talk primitive reflexes! 👶🏼✨

Babies are born with primitive reflexes that play an important role in their early movement and crucial for development. As they grow, everyday movement experiences help support the natural integration of these reflexes and lay the foundations for more controlled, purposeful movement. 🧠

Are some of your little one’s reflexes not yet fully integrated? Watch this space! 👀

At Jolly Tots Kinderkinetics, we use purposeful movement and play to support your little one’s development. In this video, we’re sharing some of the activities we use to support reflex integration through movement. 🤸🏼‍♀️✨

And a little pro tip for head positioning 👶🏼: vary baby’s position during wake windows, with tummy time, side-lying play and opportunities to look and turn head and body in both directions.

Tune in next week when we’ll be posting all about flat-head syndrome, why it can happen and what you can do to help!

Baby Series

💙Reflexes are a beautiful way of seeing how a baby is growing and developing.

🍃They are little natural movements that show us that the baby’s body and nervous system are working as they should.
👋🏻These reflexes encourage movement and, as the baby grows, gradually make way for more purposeful movements and important developmental milestones.

💙Reflexes are the reason our babies can reach important milestones.
