1,553km. 26 hours behind the wheel. 4 D-MAX derivatives. 2 countries. Zero mechanical issues.

What started on the beautiful Chobe River in Kasane turned into an unforgettable journey through Botswana and back to South Africa with the updated ISUZU D-MAX range.

From the refined 1.9 Ddi LS 4x4, to the powerful new 3.0TD X-Rider, the unstoppable AT35 and finally the V-Cross back into South Africa, each derivative brought something unique to the adventure.

We crossed highways, gravel roads, the breathtaking Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and some seriously rough terrain. Through it all, the updated D-MAX impressed with improved refinement, smoother drivability, new technology and the confidence-inspiring Rough Terrain Mode.

But the biggest takeaway?

After 1,553km and 26 hours behind the wheel, not a single D-MAX in our convoy experienced a mechanical issue.

That’s not a launch event.

That’s a real-world test.

Thank you ISUZU South Africa for an incredible experience, and to the wonderful people we met along the way. What a journey.

The final leg of our Botswana adventure is here, and we’re now heading back to South Africa behind the wheel of the Isuzu D-MAX V-Cross 🔥

After three incredible days on the road, experiencing the full D-MAX range across Botswana’s highways, gravel roads, and off-road terrain, it’s time to point the nose south and head home.

But what will stay with me most from this trip is the people. We met some truly wonderful people along the way, and every single person involved made this experience something special. What an experience. What a blessing.

The Isuzu MU-X LSE 4x4 Auto is one of those SUVs that deserves more attention.

It gives you 7 seats, a proper 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine, 140 kW, 450 Nm, selectable 4x4, strong towing ability and the kind of practical, rugged confidence South African families actually need.

But at around R974k, does it make more sense than a Toyota Fortuner or Ford Everest?
